Күн бұрын

After years of slowly collecting for the 2600, I am happy to announce that I have finally completed a boxed Activision subset for the 2600. Many game vendors, fans, and people have helped me throughout the years complete this collection. Activision provided some of the best games for the 2600. What are your favorites? In a future video, I will show my favorites on the console with game play. Please comment, like, and subscribe, as it means so much to me!

I think Atari's own brand doesn't get enough credit-- with classics like Asteroids and Space Invaders just being overlooked because nobody thinks of Atari as its own programming brand. But MJ is right. HERO is a great game. Not my favorite Activision 2600, though, which would be Kaboom, followed by Keystone Kapers, followed by Frostbite, Stampede, Megmania, and Sky Jinx. I will say, though, other versions of HERO are awesome-- and would push it higher on my list. ColecoVision's rocks and I like the C64. But my favorite HERO is on the SG-1000.

Also, after reading The Man in the High Castle, by Philip K Dick, one of the characters runs an Antique Store, and he talks about how things that have happened to, or places things have been, or people that have used them are called instances of historicity. I don't know if this is a mainstream, or common term, but I think it fits really well. Like buying a game, where some Dad left notes for his son in the manual on how to beat a boss, from 20 years ago. The price tags are a part of the historicity of that item, and I personally think there is a lot of value in that. Not monetary value, but at the very least historic value.

Zellers is not still around. Target bought all their locations out here in Canada, and then they went bankrupt here in Canada. So not even the reincarnation of Zellers is still around. RIP Zeddy The Teddy lmao.
@mbe102
@mbe102 6 жыл бұрын
Well, if we want to use that argument, then Radioshack is still around, since, our Radio Shacks were bought out by Circuit City, and we still have some Source By Circuit City's open, then sure, we can contend that Zellers is still open. But not the Zeller's you'd buy Atari Games at.

I always take the price sticker off. If it's on the original box, the adhesive will damage the box. It's another story if the price sticker is on the shrink wrap. I bought Cosmic Commuter brand new in Columbus Ohio while trying to go to college.

Hi John ! Merry Christmas to you and your family . Continued success you are a great ambassador for retro gaming . To answer your question . Zellers has been closed for a few years . I think 2015 . There mascot was a bear called zeddy . It was like k-mart . I’m glad you kept the sticker . My roommate has a nice collection of nes and Atari 2600 and super nes boxed games. All from when he was a kid ( he’s 36 now) and all in mint shape . His dad owned a card store and they collect war memorabilia from Canadian wwl and wwll . Plus us civil war and the two great wars stuff . So our place is full of history . I bought a Atari 2600 and a copy of Mario bros 2 USA famicom at a flea market and only paid 20 dollars . It pays to be patient .

Activision put out a lot of games for a lot of systems, like the Spectrum, C64 and others , what's interesting is there was more Activision games made for the Spectrum then the 2600 , pretty crazy , also games like Toy Bizarre for the C64 is a fun one, weird that some games never made over to the Atari system, because some would look and play just fine .

Your keystone kapers box looks like one of the smaller box variants as well. I have a Kaboom in the box that is smaller than my other 2600 boxed games and most of my other Activision boxed games? I've a feeling these were either later re-releases, or perhaps these are the Canadian releases and they were in smaller boxes for whatever reason. I've got a complete Activision collection but only loose and boxed mixed. What are some of you favorite Activision Atari releases from bitd? Mine would be Starmaster, Keystone Kapers, and Pitfall II. Although my mother was the master of Seaquest.
