Had my SMK CP2 since Christmas but not been happy will the feed of the pellets into the barrel. After much thought, with the H&N pellets almost impossible to load, i tested my theory out on the pistol barrel. Super smooth now. Couple of video clips, the first in pistol mode after the modification and the second showing my solution to the problem and the testing in rifle mode. All the 5.5mm drill had done is reduce the amount of rifling in the feed area, not removed it completely, just enough to allow the pellet to push though by hand. If you have .177 Cal a 4.5mm drill bit should do the trick. Don't drill past the shoulder where the barrel meets the block. Very pleased with the results and will enjoy the CP2 now as much as my CP1. Hope you all enjoy these video clips and they are of help.

I wonder if the feed issue is just on the .22 version? I have the .177 version using air arms diablo fields and accu pell with no feed issues at all, I know I've only tried two pellet types so if anyone with the .177 version is having feed issues please specify which pellets you're using. @ magoryn yep this is a really fun gun, it's eating through my co2 supplies at an alarming rate not because it's co2 hungry, it's just that I can't stop shooting it. I used a very small reamer very carefully to clean the burrs off the port into the 177 barrel. And then a brass rifle cleaning brush to take the burrs off the rifling inside the throat. The only purpose of the brass brush is to remove burrs, normally only a nylon or felt/cloth pull-though would be used for cleaning. The outside of the port in the barrel was also raised and needed some gentle work by hand with an Arkansas stone with the O-rings off to smooth it. Pinch the O-rings to remove them not dig at them with a pin, they seem easily damaged. Clean the breech block out, it seems to collect muck. Re-grease and reassemble. It may be worth stripping the gun down. I found the cylinder tube very burred where the hammer rides. And the transfer port misaligned, it needed holding in place (shank of a drill bit) whilst the screws done up. With that all done the fps went up with the same shot count. No longer wasting gas, more efficient, excellent grouping.

Good idea but you should avoid putting drill bits down there as they can cause damage to the chamber and rifling cutting unevenly and leaving burrs ect. Better to use some cone and ball shaped abrasive bits for more gradual and even work. And of course after be sure to fully clean it out.

@@weirdscience8341 not much it seems. The pistol/rifle kit cost $120 US dollars. There are some differences in like the bolt handle and although it comes with a left handed bolt/ upper reciever, there are right handed ones available. Both the pistol and the rifle kit also come with Diana soft cases. Although Diana has been around a long time, the Diana brand is not necessarily a high end AirGun brand anyhow.

@@reevessairgunningreviews5572 Many thanks for the reply. Mine finally arrived on Sunday (though due to Covid I only had energy on the day to see that the box contained something gun-esque). I'm very impressed with it especially for the money. I did find a burr on the port drilling of the rifle barrel that needed sorting before it would slide into place cleanly but that was all. I have had a tweet of the trigger and with a little needle-filing and polishing I now have a nice first pressure, good wall and clean break with no perceptible creep. I was pleased to find the long barrel's rear sight sits atop an 11mm dovetail as this neatly solved my problem of mounting the scope well forward to allow room for a Megaorei 2 IR converter hanging off the back (oddly this dovetail is 0.5mm higher than the rails on the breech block but nothing a little shimming in the tube clamps didn't overcome).

@reevessairgunningreviews5572

No. It should be vertical. Check your barrel screws haven't come loose. The centre one is longer and locks into a dimple in the barrel. The two outer ones tighten directly onto the barrel itself. If they are ok your front sight could have moved. Sometimes a light tap can straighten them, especially if you use open sights.

Hi . After recieving mine I had exactly the same problem which I have now remedied using your 5.5 mm drill solution. I have however encountered another problem. Using pellets which have hollow backs the bolt probe (being very short) is only pushing the pellet halfway across the transfer port resulting in poor power. By removing the barrel and breech assembly and loading a pellet this is easy to see . I assume the probe length has been set using pellets with more solid backs ie Crosman which would I assume be pushed a millimetre or two further down the barrel and clear the transfer port. I have ordered a longer bolt probe which should cure the problem as the pellet should be pushed just past the transfer port for max performance.
@simonbean1264
@simonbean1264 6 жыл бұрын
@@reevessairgunningreviews5572 Hi again. Yes I appreciate all pellets have open backs for the reason you state but some are more open than others. Take a look at any of the Crosman 14.3 grn pellets and you will see what I mean . They are 'filled' about half way up the skirt and would therefore be pushed further into the barrel with a shorter probe. The pellet should be parked just past the transfer port for maximum efficiency.
@simonbean1264
@simonbean1264 6 жыл бұрын
@@reevessairgunningreviews5572 Hi there . No in fact the Crosman are pretty good as they are being pushed further down the barrel as they have a part filled back. . It's the JSB RS that are the problem they have very hollow backs and the probe is going into the hollow but not pushing the pellet past the transfer port. In fact the pellet gets 'parked' right over the transfer port with barely any opening for the co2 .
@simonbean1264
@simonbean1264 6 жыл бұрын
@@reevessairgunningreviews5572 New extended probe arrived today from T Robb, may get it fitted tonight. According to Mr Robb the idea is to set the length of the probe ( using your favoured brand of pellet) until it just pushes the pellet clear of the transfer port. Then stick to using the same pellets.

@@reevessairgunningreviews5572 Hi , yeah really good now JSB RS ( Falcon) pellets now clearing transfer port , performance much better around 440 FPS for 5.8 ft/lbs ( pistol config). I did notice when removing the stock that the bolt holding the valve body to the main tube was loose and had no loctite on the threads, I applied blue loctite and retightend . Maybe other owners worth checking as if it works loose the bottom transfer port o ring will not seal to the valve body and also may not puncture co2 cartridge when end cap tightened.

I have just bought one of these and have the same problem. I am thinking that to be on the safe side and rather than using a drill I am going to try and use a pellet sizer as I already have one. The sizer suitable for 452 pellets generally reforms the skirt of the pellet and makes the pellet slightly smaller in diameter so should therefore be easier to load, hopefully!!! I am also wondering if, through use, the rifling in the barrel would smooth out with use and thus eliminate the tight pellet effect. This is not a criticism of your work and ideas, all the best.

You are right, tried my method and the pellet was loading to the left and as a result was hard to load and would then shoot off target. At the end of this video I show how to drill out the breech end of the barrel. You need to go in just past the transfer port, so the pellet feeds past it smoothly.
