PRO TIP for yall that I just discovered. Lets say you have a planter with all the necessities(water, light, temp, soil) and a whole bunch of hemp seeds for example. Plant a seed and check out the stats before you plant any more. If you dont like it, get a melee tool and hit the plant, itll disappear. Try again. Repeat until you see all green stats, preferably with Gs and Ys. Dont play anything else around it. I like to plant things in the corners of a large planter So I still have space to plant more and it wont mess with my perfect plant. Then clone and keep planting that all green genetic plant and you are GOLDEN

Growing in the snow just requires 1 or 2 heaters to get temp at 100%, the radius they heat up is actually huge and does effect crop temperature. You can use heaters in any climate that your plants dont quite reach 100% temp.

Now, i've been berriefarming for many many wipes now as a part of my base build, regardless if im next to salt water or a lake. 2 springlers can cover 2x3 large planters. ALWAYS fill up your planters with water before planting seeds. The Ground stat is by far the most difficult one to upheld. The reason being the many Fertilizer nerfs. Fertilizer is completely impossible to obtain, regardless if you have horses or tons of food to fertilize. It will give you 5 fertilizer per hour if you fill all slots except 1 in the composter = Useless, will never be viable unless they change it a bit. What you say about the X is not entirely true. The X basically just means its a dead genetic. So your plant just has 5 genetics instead of 6. The X can be crossbreed into a positive one, just like the W (water) can. The X has no affect on the plant whatsoever. The W doesn't have any effect either if you have a water system with pumps/springlers etc. If you are using salt water with purifier, you need 1 more pump than usual to make up for the two extra links a purifier + water barrol makes in your water system. Otherwise you will end up with springlers turning on and off every now and then.

@@PureOwnag3 that update was a rollback to how horse dung used to work. I knew they'd fix it when they broke it like 2 years ago, was confused af when my 2 horses gave me 0 dung after hours when just the day before i was picking up stacks of 6 from every untouched horse spawn.

My understanding is that you can over water your crops. They are happiest at 60% fill level and there's even a convar you can play around with "optimalplanterqualitysaturation" default is 0.6 (60%) filled. Increase to 1.0 to make the crops happiest when planters are completely filled.

It's entirely dependant on the plants genetics, ive had potatoes that only reach 100% at like 6500/9000ml, and ive had potatoes that sit happily at 100% with 8998/9000

But i assume you've done more research than me since i rarely clip clones myself, i prefer just leaving a timed sprinkler on and just trying to make sure i get to them when they're ripe lol but i have had some positive results from clones, but i think its really only relevant to berries nowadays with the hemp nerf (outside of modded)

Here's a pro tip from someone that loves farming but hates being around people and in cold weather. NO, not the heaters. The water tanker is the best bet for water if not around water. It holds 200k mls of water and can be used with a pump. I highly suggest this. Build a garage base 2x2 at bottom, 3x3 above it for planting and a 2x2 above. The 2x2 at the bottom should be armored with windows and gun holes. It's best used as a triple or quad. It's a grub tree. Not a Bae meant for long term use and not for farmers or people collecting loot.

I did a farm to try the different teas and make "perfect" plants. I don't believe there's any red genes besides the W and X, so if its G Y or H it's always green. and if its a W or X it's always red.

Trying to gravity feed (no pump) from a water catcher to a barrel stops working constantly for me. It seems once you hook a pump up to the barrel output, it stops feeding water til you turn the pump on, and the pump output consumes water faster than the gravity feed replenishes it, ending up with a drained barrel. You should put a pump from your water source to storage if this happens.

..large pump straight to sprinklers in a river or lake base...easy...and have you noticed that the edges of your screen magnify?...I use this magnification to track C130s and scout sulphur nodes...if you forgot to bring your binos...and 8x works well too..

It is possible to overwater plants actually. Using too much water can bring a plants water stat down to 75%. This will linearly decrease from 100% depending how much “extra” water is inside of the planter. This doesn’t really matter if some of the other stats are already 75% such as fertility. But if you want the perfect crop I would not overfill it.

Actually having your planter at 9000 water will not give you 100%. Keeping water between 4000 and 6000 generally will keep your water at 100%

Dude, you need to know something. STOP USING SPLITTERS!!!!!!!!! use electrical branches instead. splitters "Split" power along each out. and you get diminishing return on power each splitter used. You can use electrical branches and split off only enough power for each circuit used. this way you can use all your power more efficiently. Meaning, you can use all your battery limit by branching out effectively.

thanks for the comment. This isn't an electric tutorial. all I'm doing is showing the operation of the farming components. One reason I'm using a generator and not batteries with solar panels etc.. I say in the video its not wired up economically.

@@AniCodYT Yeah, so I think somewhere between 6000-8000 is the sweet spot. This will take water from 75% to 100% if you hit the sweet spot. Creating a video using timers to perfectly water the plants would be good but there's quite a lot of variables. The types of plants you're planting and their water in-take, and then hitting the right spot with sprinklers and making sure the sprinklers are only hitting the planter box's you want with minimal overlap. Quite a bit of math involved too. Water consumption of plants which is generally quite easy to calculate in terms of plant * 12. And then output amount of sprinkler and make sure that your water source is adequate enough not to run out.

@@gazreyn there are already a few guides out there on how to make an auto watering system, but because water is almost never the weakest plant stat, there is next to no point in using one. Over watering isn't an issue when water isn't the lowest growth stat.

@@AniCodYT Actually, I always try to harvest just when Ripe is 1% or close to it. I have yet to see any gains in Ripe percentage getting higher. As it sits there getting more Ripe it will consume water though, so to wait is to lose time and water. ;)

"Fruiting" means it is still producing more output. "Ripe" is the final stage and is the ideal time to harvest. With the exception of very high yield plants (multiple Ys) they rarely gain any significant output in the Ripe stage

Hey man I’ve watched heaps of your video but I can’t figure something out I build a 4x4 with 6 water pumps , 1 powered water purifier , 3 water barrels yo 8 sprinklers With the automatic fluid switch I have 1 switch for each 4 sprinklers But 2 of my planters never get enough water And the others are over Saturated If you can give me a hand I would really appreciate it

Horse dung is obviously way more efficient than food in the composter. Pick up any horse dung, 1 gives more fertilizer than a stack of food.

the watering coverage from a sprinkler is circle. your planters tessellate into squares so if your sprinklers aren't places properly you will get loads of overlapping water in the middle and not much of anything at the edges

how do i settup the electricity and all for this, i settup like 4 large solar panels and they were only giving 4 power each, me not happy, i tried running root combiners from solar panels to them and then directly to large battery and than to the electricity box you have, whatever its called, and than to the pumps, and i could only run about 8 sprinklers at 1 time and i couldnt do anymore, so do i need a electricity box and all for like 30-40 sprinklers and like 1 barrel and 2 large water collectors for each water barrel, im trying to figure out how to get like 30-40 sprinklers running all at the same time and thats sort of frustrating. plus i dont know hoow to do the electricity properly for this sort of settup, i am new to the electricity so i am definitely screwing things up.

in the time it takes you to build the grow house, make genetics and do a farm cycle, you could of run oil rig once and got enough scrap to buy food for the rest of wipe Only tea is worth making, even then its usually easier to buy it from someones shop.

Most are wb1 and 20 scrap apiece. You can get sufficient scrap to bp them with an hour or so of scrap farming. Ocean farming and diving are the safest methods of gathering scrap.

man. first of all, im a legend. but besides that, this is much more involved than i was hoping lol. If i did this, id accomplish nothing else in rust. I realize its not ideal, but if i just threw some planter boxes on my roof and filled it with seeds and watered it, would it work at all? I know it wouldnt be nearly as good, or fast as this, but im just trying to get some max health teas my dude. ok, so I keep planting berries but I cannot get anything to yield? Is this because I don't have everything at 100%? Also if the plant has some red genes will it still yield or does it have to have all green genes to yield anything. I've been trying to get berries for tea's and can't get nothing to yield.

Did you wait for the right stage to Harvest? It goes from seed>seedling>sapling>mature>fruiting>ripe Fruiting and ripe will give you fruit when you harvest- ideally harvest at ripe

@@dzejkob9042 You just look at the plant, it gives you all the information, the genetics, all the bars for water light ground and overall health and Stage, which is where it tells you the age and what part of the growing cycle it's on. lots of different parts to the cycle, ripe being the final stage.

There are 6 stages to the plants growth. Seedling, Sapling, Crossbreed, Mature, Fruiting, Ripe and then Dying. (I believe they start dying 2 hours after planting but might be more or less). After the dying stage the plants then despawn.

It's all essentially the same. If you're near a river, you can theoretically use a pump in the river and just go directly to sprinkler system without water storage. Obviously other option is to pump in to a water barrel (should be in the farm to be safe.
