I stumbled across your videos recently and I think you might be interested in setting up sunshine and moonlight for your house. I've been using sunshine on my pc for a while and now I use it on a dedicated windows gaming rig that lives up in my closet. It's an open source application for game streaming that gives you the ability to stream games from your pc to almost anything. Phones, tablets, other computers, linux, tvs, chromecasts (newer models). It's super impressive stuff! If you want to untap your gaming rig and allow it to be used on basically any device in the house through your local network it's worth looking into. Happy to sync up and show you how it works if you're interested in taking that leap.

If you want Atmos on windows or xbox though TV first then eARC to sound system, you would get audio delay. You want to connect the PC to something like a HDFury Vrroom first, then let the Vrroom split Video and Audio to TV and sound system seperately.

Have you considered running an active USB extension cable from the PC to the upstairs TV cutout and mount the Windows wireless adapter somewhere next to the TV? All the benefits and I believe the xbox controller wireless protocol is lower latency, and you get access to the accessories app.

I have. The only good extension option I have though is to convert USB to CAT5/6. I also haven't found native Microsoft adapter to work well on long or extended cables though.

Nice, but there are some things that are very, very, very important to me. As a PS5 gamer, I can use everything from the couch. Also, a very good thing is the headphones, especially the quality of the microphone. So, I plug the mic into the controller and have a good quality mic to talk with friends. They listen to me, they laugh. Everything gets bad if I use a freaking Bluetooth microphone. They just sound bad. So, please, please, I just need that good experience on my microphone that is not Bluetooth, also wireless, just in the controller or something like that.

Nice! I have a bunch of videos on my "console" PC journey. I'm going to likely try the Pro, do some comparisons, and see. I expect though the 5090 will come hot on its heels and the Pro will struggle in that comparison like console always has. Still, I really want console convenience and simplicity.

Thanks for the detailed guide. Really appreciate it. I’m wondering about detailed audio settings for using Dolby Atmos for Home Theater (using app) and DTS:X for Home Theater (using app). When using bitstream audio from the above two spatial audio technologies, the audio cuts out at irregular intervals for 1-2 seconds. Have you experienced this? Would you perhaps make a video about end-to-end audio settings? Thanks.

Okay so couple of questions, have you considered bazzite OS? OS focused on Steam OS? Secondly, have you considered turning on your PC using Wake on LAN? If you have tried it before, did you face any issues that made you switch to the solution you are here before? The reason I am asking this is because, your solution requires a two step process when shutting the PC down, which won't be needed on WOL
@Techthusiasm2 ай бұрын
I have not really looked at any alternative OS. I know Windows well, and in the interest of simplicity of maintenance, had not been interested to look for base alternatives when this is working well. I'm sure there are some good options out there though. WoL could work. I would need to determine if I can trigger a WoL event from Control4. I presume there is some way to do so. I really do want the PC to shut down and full boot though for each use, instead of using some kind of sleep state due a variety of issues I have seen with sleep. WoL perhaps can still put and restore the PC from a similar state though, I'm not sure. Shut down and clean boot ensures that Windows updates and such get applied automatically, ensure Gysnc to my TV is registered and operates correctly each time, and has overall just led to a lot more game stability. I found I ended up rebooting the PC often anyway manually after trying to use it from sleep/suspend. Given that I can boot the PC off my remote or wall buttons, operate everything with a controller in Steam BPM, and shut the PC down directly with the controller in BPM, it works well.
@abeelsiddiqui19892 ай бұрын
@@Techthusiasm You can boot up the PC with WOL, it doesn't need to be in sleep mode. That's how I usually turn on my Windows Plex Server since I shut it down to save on power and when am not using it, so yeah, your PC can do a cold boot with WOL

Can you link the specific antennas youre using for bluetooth? I've struggled for many years with having a reliable bluetooth connection when trying to use 4 DualSense controllers at once with a PCIe bluetooth adapter. I've had much more success with a USB bluetooth dongle but I would like to just use a PCIe card.

@@Techthusiasm Well, unfortunately that antenna didn't fix my issue. The PCIe WiFi/Bluetooth card I have struggled once I connected 3 controllers. It could do 2 fine but once the third connected they all stopped working. I really don't know why I can't find any solution to this matter. The only success I've had is with an old BT 4.0 USB dongle. I've tried several 5.x dongles and a couple of PCIe cards. Nothing besides that old 4.0 dongle can handle 4 controllers at once.
@Techthusiasm4 ай бұрын
Interesting, I wonder if you have kind of interference. We use 4 controllers with this setup as a family and it works well.
@Moskeeto4 ай бұрын
@@Techthusiasm I think the issue lies with PCIe adapters for WiFi/Bluetooth cards requiring the Bluetooth portion to be connected to an internal USB 2.0 header. Theoretically, the bandwidth required for 4 controllers shouldn't be anywhere close to the limits of USB 2.0 but I still believe the issue lies there. I imagine motherboards with integrated WiFi/Bluetooth don't suffer from this issue.

Why don’t you rack mount the PC too?
@Techthusiasm5 ай бұрын
In the past, I've needed the PC on top of the rack for better wireless reception. With the high gain antenna having some wire length, I could put the PC in a HTPC case perhaps and still have the antenna outside the rack shell. I might consider this in a future rebuild. It is nicer up top though just using a full-size case and not being concerned about video card size and having more cooling capacity.
