I decided to transform the cooling system of my PC from air cooled to liquid cooled. But I also decide to really go to town with this rebuild and make a complex tubing system, going as far as liquid cooling of MOS and RAM. The end results: super cool looking PC, running so much quieter, and at much cooler temperatures specially when playing VR games.

@shahabk1 It's weird I can read your comment in my notifications, but it's not showing up here. I took the GPU apart and the original pads for the VRAM were exactly 1mm, and the ones used on the MOSFETs were 1.5~1.6mm. I guess I'll just get 1mm and use that for both. Thanks for your reply! P.S. How are you so skilled in Do-It-Yourself aspect? Is this just a hobby? I'm doing my first custom watercooling loop and I wish I was as skilled and confident as you.

Great build. But if you are gonna spend so much to watercool your entire system. PLEASE get a better case, with better airflow and MORE RADIATORS. My recommendation would be a Corsair 5000D Airflow case with 2 radiators (both intake radiators) and 1 exhaust fan at the rear (better to have more intake than exhaust) and connect the 2 radiators like this. Start with the pump, connect the pump to the GPU, then from the GPU to a radiator, then from the radiator to the cpu block then from the cpu block to the RAM, finally connect it to the second radiator, and complete the loop by connecting it back to the pump. You are welcome! 😀 Happy building!

Only one 240 mm radiator? Is that enough?
@shahabk1
@shahabk1 4 жыл бұрын
my pc ran just shy of 20C cooler compared to when air cooled. So in a way I was very pleased by the results. The other limiting factor for me was space. No bigger radiator could fit, unless I would use 2 x 240. One at the top, and one in the front.

The fans being not aligned with the holes triggered me
@shahabk1
@shahabk1 3 жыл бұрын
haha nice catch... I had to move the radiator forward so I could fit the infeed tube from the bottom, while having clearance for the exhaust fan. as a result I had to drill new holes for the radiator fans and shift them forward too. that's a problem when you are working with a small case not intended for watercooling. you have to get creative and move things around. challenging, but fun. I now have a much larger case and did a new round of watercooling with 2 pumps and different dyes. Man it was a night and day difference when you have space to work with....

Nice to see people getting into water cooling builds and stuff but the loops and bends look so sophisticated. Sorry to say this but i think you didn't plan the entire water cooling loop. EDIT: Have you installed the radiator to cool your coolant in your water cooling build?
@shahabk1
@shahabk1 4 жыл бұрын
I did though. I planned the whole system in a freeware called google sketchup. I went through 7 or 8 iterations before I chose my final design. this really helped me realize that some of my initial thoughts wouldn't even fit in my case so I had to modify. I suggest everyone use the free 3d sketchup made by google which is incredibly easy to use. And yes, I also installed the radiator. There is footage of of it at 00:03 and 11:28 briefly

I had built this pc 2 years before watercooling it. I believe all the components cost me $3-4K. but for watercooling, I ordered lots and lots of parts. Pretty much all the pieces you see in the video. As a result, each component cost me very little. I now have a lot of parts (different size pumps, RGB fans, RAM blocks, MOS blocks, hard tubing, bending kits, connector pieces ...) that I am selling locally. PM me if you need any parts and I'm sure I have those available for sale.

why so much thermal paste?
@shahabk1
@shahabk1 3 жыл бұрын
you know actually, I thought other people were using very little for such crucial elements (i.e. the CPU and GPU) and thought i would use more to make sure it gets spread on the surface for optimal heat transfer. Oddly, having used "so much", I got no squeeze outs which makes me wonder maybe others are using too little and not enough .... I should have got squeeze outs if it were too much but looks as though it wasn't too much. so I am in doubt to be honest whether I used too much, or just the right amount.

@maulcs

It's better to have more paste than too little. There was a video about it, I think by Gamers Nexus, that proved that more thermal paste basically did nothing, but too little had a negative effect on cooling.
