Check the audio at 53:24 - you wished everyone a Happy New Year 2015. Doesnt really matter because we got the gist! Surely wanted to see that water coming out of that pipe but you cut away right as it was coming out. That fishing expedition was great - gave us some more variety! Thanks again for sharing.

Easy to see why you'd prefer working on a nice clean slab! - much easier to find what you need. I would lay a couple pieces of 3x4 ft plywood around the well just so I wouldn't lose any tools or hardware. Good job of narrating. More conversation would help keep viewers interested, and don't be afraid to show stuff that doesn't work! That can be as good or better than a string of successes.

Happy New Year to you and Lori! Great video and very interesting. I was the cause of a dropped submersable pump, pipe, and wire. I handled the pipe wrench roughly and the plate was warn out so the coupling slipped right through. They threw the plate away after the fact. Anyway, we had a treble hook we sent down and hung the wire and pulled the whole mess up a little over 100 foot if I remember correctly. I had been warned about this happening to someone and their leg got caught in the wire and cut in half on the casing. I was up on a 6 foot tall fence before all the wire even went down the hole. Every one else was standing there looking. I really like your fishing tool. Have you even installed a windmill that drove a generator? I had a neighbor who rigged up a automotive alternator to one in his back yard and charged batteries for yard lights and a shop light with it. It was cool but squeaked. Didn't bother me though. Enough of my novela. Looking forward to the next video. jack
@OkieWindmiller5 күн бұрын
Thanks Jack!!! Yep i think anybody who ever messes with one will drop one at one time or another, it’s just bound to happen. That tool is pretty cool isn’t it, and just cheap old used sucker rod. I have never messed with one that generates electricity yet, heard tales of them in the past, but never have seen one. Thank you for always being here!

Shane I have a bunch of disc magnets (CB antenna magnet) with a 1/4'' hole and bolt through the center. Would something like that work for mounting a camera to when your working in the air to the frame of the tower or the crane boom for a diffrent views. Let me know I would shurley mail you down a couple as I have 8-10 left over from my business. Small magnets 3'' diameter would probablly hold 10 lbs safely and big ones 4'' more.

@@OkieWindmiller NO NO the view at that job was PURRfect , that's why it was a fantastic video, distance, you could see every move. but why the windmill support for only a hand pump, money?, He's on the install ment plan!! hi hi
@OkieWindmiller5 күн бұрын
He wanted the windmill primarily, but wanted the hand pump as backup water source if the power was out and the wind wasn’t blowing. Best of both worlds! As for the base, the 1’ proud casing iis high enough to keep water from entering the well.

Love your attention to detail! But you being a machinist it figures. What size of bit is used on the weep hole? Also, 18" down in Oklahoma makes me wonder if it would be deeper in Nebraska an it's nasty winters.
@OkieWindmiller3 күн бұрын
Thank you! We use 1/8”. It’s big enough to flush fines thru and small enough not to lose too much water. Yep, I bet north the deeper, and a lot down south are lucky enough not to need a weep hole.

What do you think of the various pump pole guides people are using - Aermotor swinging type, planks diagonal across the girts, PVC tubes, etc.?
@OkieWindmiller4 күн бұрын
I like to use a crossbar about halfway up and use a U clamp with a piece of 1-1/2 pvc that is about 3” long for the pump rod to go thru. I don’t really care for the ones that extend to the pump rod. They’re not fun to work with, but they work.

Can you explain why you had to put up a windmill for a handpump. Is the idea to still pump water out into a tank at a later stage. I might be wrong, but surely you can pump water without the windmill. Confused.
@OkieWindmiller5 күн бұрын
Oh yeah, the idea is to let the windmill do the pumping all the time, but, in emergency cases such as power out and no wind, you can hand pump. Just adds an extra layer of preparedness. Good question which i should have addressed. Thank you!!

We live near Tecumseh Michigan. Corn and soybean farms… Most all the original farms (red and white barns w/silo) have/had these same type of windmills. Most are non functional, as we have many rivers and creeks nearby to Lake Erie. and electric pumps. I never realized what was below the surface. I just stumbled across your videos, and I love them. Currently watching your backlog 😊 I’m a retired carpenter (mechanic/plumber/electrician 😉) and avid jig maker. Loving your various grabbers/holders. Take care of that shoulder... the dueling pipe wrench combo, is gonna get you. Props, to Boss/Mama/Producer. Paul.

Couldn't you keep it at 40 and put 2 lengths below the pump? That way you can compensate if the water level dropped(which would be a bunch) and still draw water but keep the sucker rod shorter and wind mill still having an easier time pumping. Not criticizing just wondering out loud.
@OkieWindmiller5 күн бұрын
Sure could, but I had already planned on 60 and bought the 36” nipple for the top. If i had done 40, I would have had to add another splice to the sucker rod, which is never the best idea.
@toddworman44285 күн бұрын
Makes sense, just trying to figure things out so if I am blessed to find a property with a windmill I know what's going on and what would need to possibly be done. Just learning, if you don't ask you don't see what you're seeing. Love the channel, keep up the good work and Happy New Year 🎉
