I started to build an undead army just for nostalgia. I’ve had three full GW armies of undead and sense I despise the company I figured I’d try Kings of War. Now I feel bad a little that I chose to do so. The undead instantly made all of your S lists. I’m not competitive really so I hope to keep my friends. Haha! Thanks for posting this.

Hey Wade, thanks for your message! But the sounds of a mixed, non spammed army you'll keep your friends. It can be a very strong list but through the clash of kings updates its definitely coming back into the pack (as has abysall dwarves) Let us know how your undead army comes together!

Good stuff and some interesting takes. I do like the fact that while there are plenty of commonalities there are a few slightly disputed placements. That speaks more to the general balance of the game. That being said, it might be interesting to do a video for those lists that you all had a different tiers to see what you would build/How you would them. For example, I question Abyssals (not that I think they’re bad by any stretch just not exactly high tier - lots of “kinda neat” stuff without enough synergy) so it would be interesting to see a discussion on builds for them, Northern Alliamce, Ratkin Slaves/etc. either way, fun panel.

Forces of the Abyss is one of those armies that can make armies from both ends of the power spectrum. With access to regenerating units, fast flying chaff, hard hitters, we’ll of souls, cheap US1 characters and drain life you can get a very elite robust army that score on objectives easily. Thanks for the feedback on some episode ideas! Keep them coming

Hey gents, thanks so much for this video. I am considering trying to get into KoW, and I was curious what is a good place to find army lists (possibly the ideas behind them)?
@DirectMisfire4 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam, Thanks for the comment! My advice is to jump onto kings of war fanatics group on Facebook. Throw out a post letting people know you’re new and want to talk about an army. They will give you some on the spot advice, provide a KZbin link to master crafted (choosing an army) and finally direct you to the army specific Facebook group where they have lists, painting, miniatures etc all included. Alternatively we can talk it out over email! Directmisfire@gmail.com

Hi really enjoyed the content. When I decide on my army I go for models or themes I like. Haven't played in any tournaments so can get away with this. Do you find that if a person has a proxy army based around a theme and an existing list is acceptable or not.

I think as long as it’s easy to tell the difference and you’ve explained it pre battle during the list sharing phase it’s fine. :) polite gaming is best

I have no idea how you didn't include goblins as S/A tier as their close shooting is just as good with Bandits, and Trombones while also being able to run a great grinding list with Mincers/+mobs and trolls.
@DirectMisfire4 жыл бұрын
Hey Guts, Thanks for the comment! Goblins were definitely a tricky army to place. We discuss them lightly at around the 57th minute in a bit of detail. You could possibly mount an valid argument for an A tier rating, but I struggle to see justification for a S tier rating. In this argument they have 1-2 units that could be seen as above average in value (wingits with spotters, trombones etc) but this is also balanced inside the list with subpar unlocks. Even Trolls start to waiver early with 14/17 which starts to make target prioritisation easier for your opponent. All three of us have played against goblins quite often (Bensome even playing with them extensively) based on our experience we all seemed to think B. A strong syngeristic army, good flexibility in army build options without having anything broken. Thanks again for your comment! We hope you liked the episode even if those gobbo's were a little low for you - Sellick

Do you think, in Australia, Mantic may have hurt their sales of Abyssal Dorfs due to people not wanting to be labelled as “Mr easy mode”? Same question for other countries...
@DirectMisfire4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... I don’t think so. Despite being at the top end of the ladder, Abysall dwarfs are not common. I think it’s more play style, model ranges, feel/look more so than being that guy. The list is fantastic and many solid A/B tier lists can be made from it, it’s just when you take all the good stuff in bulk and no concessions you can look a bit bad
@ojones81224 жыл бұрын
Would be interested to know what armies you three regularly play so we can take those rankings with a pinch of salt!
@DirectMisfire4 жыл бұрын
Haha long list! We play primilary using: undead, ratkin, Abyssal and Abysall dwarfs, kingdom of men, ogres, dwarfs, goblins and elves/sylvan kin. We play against: the above, varangur, empire of dust, trident realms (despite Huw not playing them), basileans, nature, twilight kin, night stalkers, brother hoods, Rhordia and northern alliance frequently before covid. :)
@ojones81224 жыл бұрын
Couldn’t agree more on Shambling being under costed. If the whole army is Shambling then yes you would struggle with late game objective grabbing and early game positioning. But when you can take multiple fast non shambling units to complement the others, where’s the negative??? My take on levelling the playing field - increase the cost of Surge (across all armies). Rant over! I’m off to build a B tier list with some shambling allies...
@DirectMisfire4 жыл бұрын
Rant away! I don’t mind having a mix of shambling and not shambling but the fast stuff needs to be taxed not based on its own attributes, but on the attributes and abilities it brings to the army play style.
@ojones81224 жыл бұрын
Ah yes - another good take on it. So in your world mainly shambling armies would pay more for fast units. Also probably mainly non shambling armies would pay more to include some shamble shenanigans. I like it.

Elohi are also -1 Thunderous plus loss of nimble and irregular. Triple nerf. Elf Archers got even worse. -1 to hit, irregular, new cover rules and piercing item. 1 or 2 nerfs would have been fine.
@DirectMisfire4 жыл бұрын
I couldn’t talk about elves, would have made me too emotional. Elohi sure did get a beat down, hopefully with the update they can come back a bit if you’re a fan - Sellick.

I didn’t even play V2 and yet I cry myself to sleep thinking how great Elohi must have been - once.
