The city looks absolutely incredible, amazing work. In addition to the smaller lighthouse by the beach, if another table or platform was made to go around that pillar (seen in top left 0:22), you could create some sort of island or rockwork that envelopes it where you could build an even bigger lighthouse or other structures, going even further you could then connect it to the main city by another platform where you could build an ocean where you could have larger ships which could be ferrying cargo between the island and main city.
@BasedTradCathMale Жыл бұрын

Wow, wow, wow. It looks great. What an update! It's been so much fun to see watch all of your changes. If I may offer one small armchair critique: There is a seem between the sections of wall near the stairs, visible at 2:39 that looks a little odd to me. I know with the studs being slightly misaligned there it could be tricky to cover, but it might look good if it were hidden behind some additional vegetation, a banner of some kind, or maybe even a second stair case that goes the other direction.

This is incredible! Amazing job! I can't wait to see the beach! For that small segment between the new harbor and the tram tracks maybe you could do a boardwalk? Here in California we have lots of boardwalks that serve as main walkways for crowds so they can keep sand out of their shoes while picking a spot and so that the beach isnt congested with people walking to their spot/back to their vehicles. Naturally there are lots of places along these boardwalks to exit and walk down some stairs to the beach, as well as vendors, benches, trashcans, and pleasantly dim lamps à la La La Land (2016).

Other ideas for the lego city: an amusement park, a big garden, a police station and a fire station (like in your old videos on your main channel), an airport (as you said a couple of videos ago), a hospital, a castle (you could build it also in your future medieval world and it could be the same place but like 500 years apart) and an entire underground world with sewerage, caves, the metro and cellars.

The most believable structure to place above the new harbor would be warehouses with cranes for moving cargo between docks and rail cars; along with other industrial buildings such as a fish cannery or shipwright. If it were no longer a working seaport, perhaps some of these old brick buildings have been converted into a hip waterfront distict; with cafés, galleries, artists lofts, scuba shop, etc.

Just an idea I think would add lovely detail to this hard working area of the layout.

Some ideas for nets around the city… - fisherman repairing net on the quayside - part of a climbing frame in a kids' playarea - stretched tight to represent rebar mesh for concrete on a building site - as a trellis for some leaf elements, perhaps over an outdoor eating area to provide dappled shade - a scene where people are freeing a tortoise entangled in a net on the beach - stretched over a large glass window element at 45 degrees to suggest an old leaded window

Since you brought the corn field to the new location, maybe you could have a small fire in a corner of it, giving you the chance to introduce a fire department crew, smoke, and a dark burnt patch. Also, it may be fun to introduce a skateboarder or a kid with a spray can near a graffiti wall, maybe near the train tunnels. Graffiti might be a challenge, but you did great sign work in the western town, so I'm sure you could come up with something colorful to brighten up a grey wall. I am enjoying your videos and building techniques. Keep up the great work!

If you put a rocky outcropping at the corner of the table, then that would cover the transition between dock and beach, while also providing a reason for the lighthouse's existence and preventing the square corner of the table becoming a perfect right angle of coast which would never really exist in nature!

I'm not sure if you'd call any of today's techniques 'illegal' but it's so cool how in 12 months you've gone from basically rectilinear construction to almost nothing being built solely on the gridline studs. I never knew some of these angled pieces even existed so it's fascinating to see you use more and more variety of angles, hinges and creative workarounds (e.g. foliage) to free yourself from 90-degree corners. Absolutely amazing and just makes these videos more and more interesting to watch.

Thinking in the scheme of real-world application, I don't know if I like the idea of a beach in between 2 busy harbors. Not just that the landscape structure doesn't make sense, it would take a lot of work to make the beach there in a way that it isn't competing with the environment around it, but also the dangers of boat traffic and pollution would make the beach rather unsafe. If you placed the beach where the older harbor is, you could keep the rock face and extend it out further to separate the beach from the harbor in a way that looks and feels natural, and make that the home for a future lighthouse. The old harbor can then be moved closer to the newer harbor, keeping the 2 areas close and congruent, and the move would give you the opportunity to make whatever improvements and updates it needs to properly match your new building style.

Maybe you should have a brick herringbone path going along the edge of the beach and harbour, surrounded by some grassy sandy plants on the beach side (from the sand blown up from the beach) and formal beddings on the inland side, and some concrete bollards with chains to keep people from falling off. The area also reminds me of our local waterfront which happens to have an octagonical hut that sells ice cream to beachgoers on that area. There are also picnic tables with umbrellas around it.
