Trunk links should be configured on switches that need to carry traffic for multiple VLANs, typically on switches that connect to other switches (uplink ports) or to network devices like routers or servers. These switches are often referred to as distribution or core switches in a network topology. Access switches, which connect end-user devices such as computers, printers, or IP phones, typically do not need trunk links because they only need to carry traffic for a single VLAN (the VLAN assigned to the end-user device). So, trunk links are not typically configured on access switches. Instead, access ports on these switches are configured with the appropriate VLAN membership. However, in some cases, access switches might have trunk links if they are connected to other switches for specific purposes, such as connecting to another switch for redundancy or connecting to a switch in another building or location. But in general, trunk links are primarily configured on distribution or core switches in the network.

thank you sir this really helps my college assignment, a little advice, if you follow him for config but use gns3, I suggest using iosv/iosv l3 for router, iousv l2 for dsw/sw, and access-sw iosl2(not v), my ram is 16gb ddr4, and tried sw and access-sw using all iosvl2, but it made loading severe and stuttering lol, but when access-sw was replaced with regular iosl2 then it was perfect and smooth. note: I allocated 4096 memory, and 2 cpu for vbox/vm(gns3vm).

To be more clear. You don't want any kind of trafic out of the port-channel until you finish the full configuration. If you already have configured the other side of etherchannel with Active, desirable or on Imagine what would happen. The traffic would be send out the etherchannel After the command: channel-group id mode xxxxxxx. For security purpose this is bad and you want to avoid It!

Which iou you have used for access switches and then for distribution switches????? When you again used HSRP on switches do you know you have cut down the flow of traffic from whole one distribution switch, by standby it will not take any traffic unless your primary switch goes down, that's why for router it's ok for switch you have cut the whole chunk of traffic in distribution layer???
