I got into learning BGP about 2 months ago. The company I'm working for right now are implementing their own CDN and we're using this protocol to establish BGP connections between our edge nodes and the ISPs. One thing that I can't find online, anywhere, is how to implement smart routing in BGP. What I mean is how do we use BGP to take network speed, bandwidth, server reachability etc into account when establishing the best route from source to destination. btw amazing course Kevin, I now know exactly how BGP works, both inside an autonomus system and between AS's

Hi Kevin, Good day. Thank you for putting this video together. I loved it and got to understand BGP a lot better. I have a question on the address families. Towards the end, when you are discussing IPv6 configuration, I was not able to understand why we are configuring an IPv4 address as the next hop in the "network command" on R3 and ISP2, instead of using an IPv6 address as the next hop? Please help me understand or let me know if I'm missing something basic here. Thanks & Regards Nishi

Hi Kevin, My two routers have learned a prefix from two separate ISPs. They are iBGP neighbors. Each has chosen eBGP path over iBGP although iBGP path has a local preference of 100. Therefore, the acronyms are not working properly.

@1:50:34 - can you show us the result of that command, before you do anything else? - we need to see how that command affect the routing table & also the bgp table. "neighbor ISP1 route-map LOCALPREF-ISP1 '' " 'in' - does this mean stuff coming to R3 via ISP1 (as in, data transit from INET->ISP1->R3) ? or does it mean stuff going to ISP1 (as in, data transit from R2->R3->ISP1->INET) ? Because we are on R3, doing these commands: - Does 'IN' mean out, and 'OUT' mean in
