Explained SO clearly. Love the switching between detailed database property creation and aesthetic future case usage on the dashboard! Really easy to follow and customise for my own reporting needs in my 12 week year system. Also appreciate links to GTD and other productivity systems. Really useful to see how Notion can be effectively used to incorporate them into daily life. Thank you. Great seeing how the channel has evolved and all so polished. Might be my favourite now. If I had a request, it would be a video on top 10 formulae to use. 🙋🏾♀️

This is absolutely amazing. I got into Notion for D&D DMing and now here I am setting up an entire life planner! I am absolutely loving this! Do you by chance have a “build with me” template for your Journaling? I know you have the walkthrough from a couple years afo, but would LOVE to integrate a journal prompt into the menu and track it digitally! Thanks for everything you do! I’ve already learned so much :).

one thing that i was thinking about when creating this build is about the this week view with both analog and date views. I just don't really understand why we need both. Why can't we just have the date view? they look the same on the board view anyways. it would be great for you to explain. Loving the series so far!
@BetterCreating2 жыл бұрын
Yeah - you don’t really need both: it’s so that people can choose. Some people prefer to keep things simple and not assign dates. So I thought I’d include both in the template for people if they want either. You can see the analog version demonstrated in this original video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/emnPhWltatqbn7M or my recent tour of the new larger simplified Notion template here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4nalKicppyZm5I. The date based version is what I use. Thanks for watching! :)

Hi Simon....i am new to Notion and watched lot of your past videos. Want to get started with "a complete notion" template. Recently you updated the simplified version template and i read in comments of that video that you will be updating the productive notion and complete notion templates soon. So my query is - should i wait for the new notion template to be released (complete version) and also, i want to start planing for 2023 rather setting any goal for 2022. So do you create a new dashboard each year and if yes, how do you roll forward the projects, tasks and habits to set the templates for the new year. Pardon if my questions sounds strange as i am just getting started with notion. Thanks.
@BetterCreating2 жыл бұрын
Have replied to your other posting of this comment. :) just creating a new year tag and then linking to all the existing projects or new projects in the projects database will do it. Easy. Then you have a history of goals too and they can be kept in the archive.

Great series! I have an online business where I manage specific tasks for projects each month and assign them to various team members. Is there an easy way I can do this so that everything is linked. I.e. so I can see in the to do lists who the task is assigned to, status, deadline etc. and also see the same in my individual projects each month? Thanks for these videos, been a game changer!
@BetterCreating Жыл бұрын
Yes - this is essentially what I’m doing in this build. You just need to add an assignee column using a ‘people’ column and create filtered linked databases of the task list in the project page template - this results in a filtered view of all tasks for the project they are related to: watch this for a demo: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZ3Fo4Cwh9Ggjas … it’s also in my Life OS template and I’m improving it further for the 2023 version release. :)

Hey Simon, your series on Notion has been incredibly helpful in improving my productivity. Thank you! I have a question regarding the weekly projects for review. I recently completed a few overdue projects and checked off the 'done' box, but they still show up in the 'review' view. Is there a filter or setting I'm missing to remove them from the 'review' view? Any suggestions on how to better organize completed projects for weekly reviews? Thanks!
@BetterCreating Жыл бұрын
Thank you ! Yes, absolutely - they turn up based on having a frequency and due date - so you would just need to delete those entries in the main project database for the project. OR simply add an ‘and’ filter to the weekly review feature where project is not ‘complete / archived’ depending on your check boxes and columns - well that’s in my system anyways. Hope that helps. S

Hi Simon, thx a lot for this smart system ! I might have done something wrong, but in the "This Week by Date" view, I am not able to see the cards for each tasks displayed under each day of the week. It's saying that their is "1" card next to each day of the week but nothing appears under. I am just able to create new page. I tried to redo it step by step, but it seems that it just don't want to appear. If you have any advice or tip i'll be grateful ! Thanks again for everything !

Hi Simon, loving creating this Notion dashboard... is it possible, however, to add Areas? ie. In Things 3 I have Areas like Clients, Health, Home etc, and Projects assigned to those Areas. So, I would have a "Waiting For: Update re Next Steps" task, connected to a "Client/Customer", which in turn is connected to my "Clients" Area. At the moment, without an area, all my projects, related to Health, Clients, Home, Kids, etc etc, are all just listed together and it's very messy. Hope that makes sense... 🙂

Hi ! Yes indeed - it’s something I want to add into the new Life OS templates - perhaps it can be a future video on the series too. :)
@imtiahmed200111 ай бұрын
@BetterCreating : Okay I pretty much understood everything. I just got one tiny doubt!!! The column "Add to this week" where you have each day of the week is only meant to assign a task to that day right? and also to create proper group for each day in the gallery/timeline view right???? Whats the difference between this and the other column where we are fetching the day of the "Do date" again using the formula?
@imtiahmed200111 ай бұрын
Got it no worries! Missed the initial part of the video. The difference is "Analog" and "Non-Analog"
HI @bettercoaching, Simon, this is a great video - but when I put the formula in for the day of the week, it comes back with a number - but I've copied and pasted your formula - what am I missing? Thanks!
@BetterCreating Жыл бұрын
Hi - thanks! You know what - I would actually suggest using a different method now - since Notion recently released a weekly view for calandar! I’d suggest creating a calendar view by do date, and select week as the view: you can then adjust properties you want to see and this will also allow you to drag and drop tasks across the week too - Much better! Hope that helps! :)

when would you use the analog view of tasks.. how can you see whats in that view and than the view by do date? wont it than create two separate lists you now need to check?

I’ve built this to give people the option - I would choose to use one or the other personally. But they are all in the same database - so could also create filtered views to see everything

@BetterCreating Жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean here - can you clarify what you mean by analog drop-down?
@DaraRosove Жыл бұрын
@@BetterCreating sorry! So in your first example of the Tasks board view that uses the dropdown property for each day of the week ("This Week (Analog)"), I like that I could set different colours for each option (ie. Mondays are grey, Tuesdays are blue, etc.) so that when I use the board view, it's colour coded (and cute). But I only want to use this method if I can assign the day of the week automatically... rather than having to manually select Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc. You know what I mean? In the meantime, I'm using your second method (which is great as well), but no colour option!

Hi Rahul, thanks for the message! First with the goals database - it’s very simple: all projects just carry on and you simply link them to the new goals for the new year. Easy. Regarding the template: the complete and productive templates are pretty much the same on function: but I will be updating them for better aesthetics and a few improved reporting views. I will be for January I would think - so up to you. You will be able to access the new version I would think if you download then - but probably wouldn’t want to swap to it as you will already be using the existing one. Better to simply make the updates yourself to the one you download. Hope that helps! :) Thanks Simkn
