Partial seams!!!! I was so afraid of them when I started quilting because I didn't really "get" them but they aren't hard or mysterious at all :). Are there any other techniques you want to see in a block study? curves?? Improv? what else? :)

You always prove that you can try even complicated block by just working through the process with patience. Great job. I like all the sizes, but I really loved the bold large block.

You really are an amazing teacher. I have done partial seams for years, but it's always challenging to explain them so a new person loses the fear of them. You do a wonderful job!

Love this one, Megan. I plan to try the largest size (4 of that size would make a terrific baby quilt). A giant version of this block would make a beautiful single block quilt.

thanks for such an interesting block. I adore partial seams, my family has seen many quilts in the past 3 or so years done with this technique. I'm making an enlarged version to show for my challenge project. It will be a 32" table topper. I am soooo glad I found this tonight. TY for all you do. Well, I finished my block today, it is the 17" finished (FQ) since 1 of the challenge fabric is a bright hot pink to bright teal with bold silver swirls, it may not work well for a table, it's now a pillow for a very special grand. I'll be doing the math soon for the table topper. the 3 FQs make a 51" x 17" runner, sweet size. ty again

Love the block studies and this is another great one! This block is rather challenging. I recently finished a project that used partial seams. I'm not intimidated by them, but I find that it's really necessary to pay attention! The thing that scares me is "Y" seams, so I avoid them.
@TinyOrchardQuilts3 жыл бұрын
Lol-definitely pay attention! I assembled the smaller block wrong because I was chatting away with someone. I did that final press and realized my mistake! 😂

I did partial seams with a pattern before anyone told me they were "scary" so now I think they are a secret weapon 😉 I love love love how modern this block looks! Can you explain the fat quarters again. 3 fat quarters will make 3 of the largest blocks? Thanks for a great tutorial.
@TinyOrchardQuilts3 жыл бұрын
Yes! You can cut all the fabric for the block from one fat quarter but then it would all be just the one print plus background. I’d cut a bunch and then shuffle the colors :) That was me about so much of quilting. I didn’t know fmq and other things were “scary” so just jumped in! 😂

Unusual rotary cutter…where to buy? Great video…
@TinyOrchardQuilts3 жыл бұрын
I use a martelli brand rotary cutter when I’m cutting a lot of fabric-it’s great because it puts less stress on my wrist. It takes a little getting used to but then it’s awesome! I got mine on Amazon :)

I don’t usually do full finished quilts for these block videos. I’d love to but I’m just one person to design, film, edit, sew and everything :) I guess I could add a digital mock-up at least! I’ll add something like that for the next block video ❤️

what kind of rotary cutter is that?

I just spent the morning making this block , my first partial seam!! I'm wondering if I did something wrong? the top right corner... when I attach the 3x6 rec and the 3" square... the rectangles were too long by maybe 1/2" is that right? Needless to say I assumed they should be trimmed off. My block ended up the correct size though.
@TinyOrchardQuilts3 жыл бұрын
Ack!! You are right. I caught that and corrected it when I was making the block but then never exported the finished version of the pdf. So sorry!! It should be 3x5 1/2” rectangles from the background. Im updating the download right now.
