Here in Europe we build of concrete and bricks. No wind or storm will blow away reinforced concrete. Only damage possible is to the roof. We use wood for sheds. But, this big house made of wood... I wonder how will it take 60 centimeters of wet snow all over it's roof... I wouldn't sleep in there with that load on top of that. All hail concrete!
@whitelight33836 жыл бұрын
Wind doesn’t blow away a wooden house. The only way a wooden house would be knocked over is in an extremely strong tornado, which doesn’t happen everywhere. Also this type of roof is specifically designed to carry the weight of hundreds of pounds of snow
@yoloswagilicious21196 жыл бұрын
bricks have very minimal ability to resist inward motion without a timber frame taking the strain, if a tornado hit a brick house it would crumble, like how it would if a car hit it. timber can bend slightly to resist the wind, and in earthquakes timber framed houses are the safest places to be because of the bending they can do. bricks crumble. reinforced concrete crumbles. timber doesnt crumble.

By European building standards that structure is a trailer without wheels. Why do Americans build so cheap and disposable? There’s no structural integrity on that wooden structure.
@richardc-ex7rt5 жыл бұрын
PilotVBall It depends on what the style of home you want and which builder you can afford. There’s budget home builders and there’s premium home builders. The budget home builders are going to use vinyl siding a lot; while the premium builders are the ones that are going to brick every side of the house. I have to say every side, because some lower tier companies will only brick the front. Location also comes into play here. I don’t even know if the location is given, but can tell you this home is located in the eastern or Midwestern US. They have building style that emulates the old colonial style wood homes. To achieve it economically; siding is used. You won’t really find this style here in Texas. Most of our homes are brick and stone.

Maloy7800 tornadoes don't happen every where 🙄 even if the winds get over 100 mph the only thing that would happen is a broken window and a few missing shingles. Meanwhile if you get a earthquake in a brick and mortar home that stress won't be dissapated and you'll end up with big cracks in your wall and in a wood house the material can flex to dissapate the energy and the only damage could be a crack in the drywall that can be fixed by yourself if it bothers you to much.
