Nice, good and easy to understand!👍❤ But sir, I have one thing to ask about offset alignments. That is, How we could cut/trim extra marginal portion of offset alignments beyond the curb return section up to touching the main alignment line. Please provide solution. Why I want that to know, because, if these offset alignment lines remains there in the drawing, they are creating mess in the drawing.

Masterpiece. Kindly do one on creating custom layouts and also scales in model space and layout space for proper printing.

sir I tried following the video but I couldn't managed because you are going a bit faster. I would really suggest that on the upcoming video, you take your time to explain the concepts and take your learners on a step by step process and also try to relate every step to the real world scenario since we are design a real existing Road. I kindly inform you that some of us have not worked in the field before and therefore lacks practical experience and I believe someone like you should be resourceful and impactful. Just take us through each step thoroughly and slowly a little bit.

19:18 why do we still need to edit in the design criteria editor yet we've already defined design checks for tangents and curves? I'm lost at that point.

In Autodesk Civil 3D, both Criteria-Based Design and Design Check Sets are tools to ensure that road alignments and profiles adhere to engineering standards. However, they serve different purposes and are applied differently: 1. Criteria-Based Design Purpose: Ensures that the road design aligns with predefined engineering standards during the creation or modification of alignments and profiles. 2. Design Check Sets Purpose: Verifies that the designed alignments and profiles meet specified standards, offering more flexibility in the design process. Which to Use? Criteria-Based Design is better when designing to a fixed set of standards is non-negotiable, ensuring compliance as you go. Design Check Sets are better for exploratory or iterative design workflows, allowing more flexibility in the design process. These tools are often used in conjunction for a robust design process: Criteria-Based Design ensures initial compliance, while Design Check Sets validate and refine designs.

@@costechconstruction254thank you for the clarification. Does that mean that I can use the design check sets created manually without having to edit the default one coming with civil3d?

Do we use criteria based design or design check set or both?
@costechconstruction25417 күн бұрын
You can use criteria based design if you have the correct values from your manual. Civil 3d comes with AASHTO standards. Some regions use different codes.

@@costechconstruction254I wish I could share a picture to explain what I mean. I'm a bit confused
@oluochphelix314217 күн бұрын
@@costechconstruction254let me try asking differently. When creating alignment, by default, use criteria based design is unchecked. If we proceed as such, what does civil 3d use to design? Again, if we check use criteria based design, we have two more options one is use design criteria file and the other is use design check set. If I check use design check set and select the check I defined manually, does that mean that civil 3d will not use what is in the design criteria editor but what I defined manually? I'll appreciate a clarification.

@@oluochphelix3142 If you dont select use criteria based design the software will let you draw your alignments and profiles but no error warnings will be seen. The default provided civil 3d criteria files (AASHTO 2001 - 2018 xml files) contains the following parameters. 1. ALIGNMENT In Alignments, we have tables for the following: - Minimum Radius Tables at various superelevation rates. -Superelevation Attainment Methods -Superelevation Tables and -Widenning methods You can enable the criteria based option when designing a road so that the program can use your design speed with values from the Alignment Criteria tables. OK? Example, how will you check if your minimum & maximum tangent length is to your design standards in alignments? You will need to define a check set, then create line checks for the min and max tangent lengths. 2. PROFILES The provided civil criteria file contains the following Minimum K tables - K PSD -K SSD -K HSD You will need to define checks for Tangent grades, Minimum length of vertical curves, for sag and crest No need to create checks for the given tables in the criteria file. If you use criteria based, You can use design criteria file then select it. You can further select your check set which contains the various lines or curves checks defined for your design speed. Have I answered your question correctly?
