Why do they think that motorcyclists have got a lot of money charging £30 to get in and nearly 20 quid to park.
@D-WFRКүн бұрын
Should be £10 to get in, free parking and scheduled before EICMA if you want this show to survive.
@OurTimКүн бұрын

Motorhome and Caravan show is £14 to get in. Same NEC, same floor, lighting etc. Odd that.
@OurTimКүн бұрын
@D-WFR true… depends on what exhibitors are paying etc. I imagine insurance is higher, too, given most exhibitors have engines at MCL, vs x% at Motorhome and Caravan show

EICMA 2024 tickets £17 (€20) and a much bigger and better show. Same insurance requirements. The NEC show will not survive unless it sorts itself out. I want it to survive.

It certainly is in the UK. However, not so much in other parts of Europe. Two wheeled transport is still enthusiastically embraced by the youth in Italy (I live in Pisa) for example (France and Spain too I think), mostly scooters but it’s a joy to see so many youngsters on two wheels, although it’s true that the e-scooters are increasingly popular in the cities.

Came back from there yesterday quite disappointed. Some of the new models and colours I wanted to see wern't there and just generally there seemed a lack of enthusiasm from exhibitors and public.There just wasn't the air of excitement of years past. However, I was seriously impressed with the range of Chinese manufacturers bikes and the fit, finish and build quality of them. I think the Japanese brands should be quite concerned about them. They are not the crap they were 10 years ago, these people are very serious about making motorcycles.
@OurTimКүн бұрын
I agree, the Chinese manufacturers - cars and bikes - are uping their game massively. If they keep pricing keen, it’ll make manufacturers across the board think more about their products and pricing. I agree with excitement. I had to edit out one part where I caught two hosts of camera talking and saying “right we better stop talking a do some work I guess”… and that was one of the big brands. Another stand, I asked a simple question and was told, I don’t know, you’ll have to ask one of the boys. Literally had no clue.
@robbikebobКүн бұрын
Only if the Chinese get aftermarket service and spares availability right will the others be in trouble. I've had a Chinese bike and I certainly won't be buying another for a while....

The Harley WLA is a fine old motorcycle, and one that so many young men rode to liberate Europe from the abyss of Nazism, the Silent Grey fellow ( I think) is a seminal motorcycle, and well engineered, the modern H D machines with their vast frontal areas, do not appeal to me, every one I see has loud pipes fitted, and seem to be ridden by men with pony tails long beards and an attitude ? although one local chap rides a lovely Electraglide from the 60s that is quite, and a pleasure to see the Yamahas are fantastic machines, cutting edge with handling akin to a race bike< I would lose my licence on one of those !! whats with the hammerhead shark look ??? those bits will get snapped of in an instant, motorcycles should be slim and lithe !!
