Your trees are looking good man! I appreciate your videos because you are growing in almost the same conditions as me and so close. gives me something to relate to. I'm down in San Diego and lucky enough to be in zone 10a as well and don't get frost. Most areas around me are zones 9 and get frost. By the way guyabas are my favorite as well. Keep up the vids! 👍

Wow! Amazing food forest and in such little time you have transformed your land into something miraculous. Funny, I think I have been driving along your street for years on my way home, watching those papaya grow on the side of your house. I had no idea you had so many other wonderful plants and trees down below! Keep sharing these posts. It is very inspiring for people to watch your garden grow. ;) Let me know if you are ever interested in trading cuttings, etc.

Nice! I'm new to Vista and starting out regenerating this landscape and converting an avocado monoculture into more drought resistant and natives species. I thought it'd be easier to get these natives started from seed, but it's been a pain 😂.

Awesome growth! I’m finally taking the trip up to Exotica from SDSU area this weekend. Thinking of getting ice cream bean and or Pakistani mulberry. Was wondering what you would recommend from there. Also, what are your two girls favorite fruit trees? I have two girls myself, 4 and 12, and they haven’t had too many exotic fruits and want to get them something they will enjoy.

Hi there, I really like your backyard orchard. You have a good variety collection of fruit trees. I watched your guavas video and like the Red Malaysian and sweet Vietnam guavas. I also live in Vista and wonder if you could give me some Malaysian and Sweet Vietnam guava scions next time you prune your tree? Thank you!
@ProdByXorak3 жыл бұрын
I just recently found your channel and I want to say your videos are very informational to me. I am in the North Bay and I have currently successfully grown to fruit pink guavas and avocados and this year I plan on trying to grow more tropical trees from seed. I have 4 mangos up here as well and surprisingly they seem to be doing well in my winter, no damage. they're still pretty small though so we'll see if they produce.
@MG-tx9yb3 жыл бұрын
I’m in the north bay too. Sonoma. I’d love to grow a mango and a jabotecaba. Do you like the taste of the pink guavas? I grew fejoia and thought it tasted a bit weird so I got rid of it. Where in the bay are you able to grow this stuff?
@ProdByXorak3 жыл бұрын
I say go for it, grow the plants and give them protection while they’re still young and eventually they start to acclimate to the cold weather. I love the taste of pink guavas, I also have a fiejoa tree. I am in Windsor, Ca 707

Great video looking at your view from your home we live right across at the base of those hills to right off Buena Creek Rd. Been growing a good forest for almost 40 years. Nice to see a neighbor doing same thing. If you ever want to check out our place let me know. I live in SF Bay Area but after pandemic I’ll be down visiting mom. Would be fun to compare the trees on our properties. We’ve got big and old cherimoya, many citrus, mulberry, avocado, guava. You’ve got more variety though!

Where did you get the Papaya? California fruit trees? I tried planting from seed and only get tiny ones. Most of the leaves have died back...

Adrian how many acres is your place. Ours is 3 acres? About 1/2 of it we just leave empty but I’m planning on building out the trees in near future.

Great video! Trying to relocate out of PA to either Fla or preferably southern Ca. May l ask if its even possible to find a smaller property with an acre or two in your area? We go to Socal often for vacation and want to move there and grow tropicals etc... Just concerned about insane housing market! Kinda putting damper on things. Im a nurse likely make six figures out there but wow dude that doesnt even seem to be enough. Any advice or info on areas in Socal thatyou can share would be greatly appreciated! Keep up great work on videos!

Hello, I am in So. Cal, Santa Clarita area, and here it gets a bit cooler in the winter but gets really warm in summers. There are areas where homes have a large lot but the price is seriously ridiculously expensive for being far out in the valley. We are in the process of moving and we noticed prices are sky high because of the low-interest rates. Talk to a realtor and they might be able to guide you in the crazy So. Cal home prices. We have family in San Diego and the prices there are just as expensive. Hope you find a home soon.

Hello good sir! I'm new to permaculture and I would very much want to own a property similar to yours in the future (hopefully). Just one question, how do you deal with all the insects and presumably snakes/rats in your property that can go into your house and could I grow the same trees in a Mediterranean climate? (Btw I subbed to you, I would love to learn more from you)

@socalbackyardorchard37684 жыл бұрын
nicole mcdonald I have gophers but hardly any issues with them, lost a couple young papaya plants last year and almost lost a mango.
@socalbackyardorchard37684 жыл бұрын
nicole mcdonald you definetely need to try and keep their population under control. And deep water young trees once a week in the warmer months to encourage lots of root growth before gophers get to them.
