The roadtrek interior never changes. It's just feels so cramped and cluttered. I had a roadtrek and when I decided to buy a Travato it was life changing how much more room there is and how open it is. Roadtrek is the king of technology and innovation except where the interior is concerned. Still same same old tired layout. When you are walking down the middle it literally looks like you are trapped in a narrow cave. Either way, enjoy your podcast and information
@Tia.H5 жыл бұрын
I agree with you - the cupboards and things look to be really deep, and therefore makes the walkway narrow and the rig look to be too cluttered. I was cringing when I saw it. I also agree that the Travato looks much better and roomier.

I'm so happy for you both. You look very pleased and excited for the new adventures. For my husband and I this would not work. I would dislike the extremely enclosed space, and he would hate the shower. He is actually 6'3" so he would literally be at the cap of ceiling availability, lol. Wishing you much happiness. Thank you for the tour. We can see what doesn't work for us. Although the sofa/bed was cool. But I am not sure if ut would be comfortable enough. Our research continues. The beauty of RVs, they fit differently for different people.

First, thank you for your complete walkthru. My wife and I do not yet have an RV, but have been thinking about getting one, since we're now retired. We have been considering Pleasure Way, but your new van looks enticing. I have a couple of questions for you. 1) Neil Balthaser at Ultramobility had a view in which he discussed diesel vs gas and in particular the issue of getting the proper diesel fuel, especially in the midwest. Has that been an issue for you? 2) Does your RV seem bright enough inside for you? Thanks for your answers, and for your videos.
@RVLifestyle5 жыл бұрын
We have driven diesels all across North America for more than six years now and have never had an issue of not being able to get proper fuel. It is okay to use biodiesel when that is all that is available. I interviewed a Mercedes spokesman and addressed this at length in one of my podcasts - roadtreking.xom/171 And with the new white interior, the interior is very bright.

Best wishes on your travels in your new RV. We are also from Michigan and plan to buy our first travel trailer in a year or so when my husband retires. I have a few probably stupid newbie questions though and I'm hoping you two can help. Our first trip will probably be west to SD, WY, UT, AZ etc. Much of our time will be spent with a day or two here or there as we travel through to our desired location. If we stay somewhere without sewer for a few days then next to a full hookup, do we have to empty our black/grey tanks before we hook up at the full hookup or will it automatically drain as needed? Also, if we are on the road driving for lets say six hours to our next location, how do we keep our fridge working as we travel? Thanks and hoping you can give us some advise. Happy Holidays!

Beautiful..glad to see the white interior available..hope other models also get that option soon. Do you find the extra length restricting you travel or parking options?
@RVLifestyle5 жыл бұрын
no... I usually find a spot at the back of parking lots where I can take two. But a single also works it there is some grass or room in front. I put the wheels at the end of the spot and the front or back hang over. It's just not a problem.
@homebuiltcamperdave52265 жыл бұрын
So a bunch of questions. 1. How many miles did your old rv have in it? How come you decided to upgrade? 2. Do you think the undermount batteries and a/c unit will hold up being so close to the road and being exposed to sand, road spray, snow, and road salt? 3. What kind of generator does it have? Is it the engine generator? I’ve read over and over that mercadies does not certify their engines for longer than 30 minutes of idling. 4. I’d love to know the total cost of your new unit at the dealership.

I have answered almost all of these questions several times in the comments and replies below. Call 586-372-6990 and ask those questions on my voicemail and I can play your question and then answer it in depth on next week's podcast. But if you don't want to do that, scroll down through all the comments here and most will be answered. Or... tonight... tune in at 7PM eastern time tonight (Dec. 9) to our Ask Us Anything Live Stream here on the RV Lifestyle Channel. Ask your question in our live chat during the live stream and I can take a stab at answering then. It's much easier to answer your questions then to type replies . :-)

Excellent use of the now free space on the roof! That's how it SHOULD be nowadays, given people wanting to put more solar panels on thew roof (partly for more lengthy boon-docking stays)...but vents/AC are in the way = wasted real estate up there. I hope OTHER Class B makers follow suit. NOW...if Roadtrek can get the OTHER 2 items checked off the list -- AWD/4x4 AND 4-season -- I'd be looking at a Roadtrek for sure. I think I'd prefer a roof-rack mounting system for the panels though, to avoid putting holes in the roof (unless necessary). Plus, there'd be more airflow under the panels to keep them cooler. Whatever (TMK so far) nobody's listening except Winnebago and Coachmen re: the 4x4/AWD and 4-season. BTW, nothing wrong with "dry heat" in an RV -- that's exactly what you need to prevent condensation inside and the associated problems. Happy Travels in your new Roadtrek, - BR
@dlg54855 жыл бұрын
The rooftop real estate is nice, but if you like to access unpaved gravel roads to get farther off the beaten path, kicking up all those rocks will be very hard on an under chassis unit over time, not to mention all the dust and debris that will bet sucked into it, being down so low. They are also MUCH more expensive than roof top units. You can still easily fit 500 watts of solar with a rooftop unit, even more with more efficient panels, so I'm not sure the bottom mounted system is worth the downsides.
@RVLifestyle5 жыл бұрын
Yes, Roadtrek has been putting in the undermount AC for some time now and they perform wonderfully... we do a ton of boondocking down gravel roads, national forest two tracks and we drive year round in slush and snow and dirt and mud and they have had no problems. None.

I have a 2018 CS Adventures XL, I have been dealers and RT in Kitchener more than 50 times to fix many problems in last three years. GU belt broken ever 15,000 km so I spent around $ 800 in 60,000 km at local autoshop while I am traveling. I spent more than $ 20,000 for myself to fix after RT company bankruptcy for repairing. May be RT in Kitchener spent around $15,000 for warranty job for me before closed RT. They changed Alde Espar heaters 5 times in first year because white smog problem. I just spent $3,500- to change GU alternator and $650 to change Macerator motor in this year. I spent around $15,000- for upgrade because RT didn't insulate properly, I have installed extra heater and diesel Espar fuel system(RT never fixed white smog problem), insulation, extra Batteries solar panels, etc., But I love my baby.

The graphic rap looks good. However there is something you may want to look into. Another KZbin RV channel removed all of their graphics. They where told that since the graphics where tied to part of their business / income that it could technically make their RV a commercial vehicle (rolling billboard). Subject to different insurance, registration and possibly needing DOT registration numbers. I hope its not true and you can keep the graphics without additional hassle, but I thought I would bring it up so you don’t get blind sided. Thanks for all of the content you guys put out. I really enjoy it.

Really love the new van, especially with all that solar and the lithium ion battery bank! Since you didn't say anything about your new CS Adventurous being a 4x4, I'm going to guess that it is not. And I believe your last one was. Is there a reason you did not opt for that important feature this time? I must confess I'm not a fan of either the cabinet door latches (they stick out too far, and being metal, they seem a bit dangerous) or the front windshield and window covers. Roadtrek should opt for the "built-in" shades, that disappear into the sides of the windows when not in use. Last thought: while I very much like the design of your exterior van wrap, I said out loud to myself, "Oh, boy. No more stealth camping for them!" Hugs for Bo--he is gorgeous!
@RVLifestyle5 жыл бұрын
We were not big fans of a 4 x 4. First, we didn't need t. We mostly boondock in very remote and out of the way places and never needed that 4 x 4 capability, even in winter snowstorms. Secondly the 4 x 4 rides really rough. Bo wouldn't even go in the back. Third, instead of 17-18 mpg fuel economy, the 4 x 4 dropped it to 13-14 mpg
