One detail important to add is you pick up the passport strictly between 1.30 - 4pm, after waiting 1 business day. Don't assume it's 9am and make plans as i did.

Very good thing to note. Yes, the pickup time is listed on the slip you get when you drop off your application and passport.

I’m not positive but I know you can only hold one visa at a time here. I’m pretty sure I read that getting any new visa will end the old visa but I’d look into more to be sure.

Everything I read said that’s not possible but I never tried. Note, it’s at the consulate though, not the embassy.

What flight ticket did you show them, Pete, for leaving Thailand? Do you just buy the cheapest one available and did you have show hotel booking evidence?

The first time I did it I just bought a cheap throwaway ticket to Cambodia. This time I had already planned a trip to Japan so I showed them that ticket. For my hotel I used Agoda both times and then just canceled my reservation. Note: I only booked the hotel for 5 or 6 nights even though my onward flight wasn’t for 7-8 weeks after my flight to Thailand. No questions no problem.

I have heard you can’t bring bags into the consulate. Is this true? You seem to have a small backpack.

Backpacks and satchels and such no problem. They have a sign that says no baggage with a picture of a suitcase on wheels. Just no luggage or trollies I think. Great question!

You request a certain date from a drop-down menu. In my experience it’s booked several days up to 2 weeks on advance.
