Hey Bro congratulations. I was browsing to find some more simplified insight on triads and came across your video; where have you been hiding man haha, this video is just so awesome. I am 83 and have been playing guitar since I was 15 self taught and mucked around with triads for the last 5 years or so to elevate arthritis pain in my finger to get better results out of playing now in order to enjoy it more. I never really understood the significance of triads and their association to diads; nor did I know that all chords were linked to "C" major and "E Minor, mind blowing stuff. I wish someone had shown me this 60 years ago. There are a whole heap of stuff on the internet about scales, pentatonics, modes and triads, but never explained like this, your a genius man. Thanks, from a Country Hill Billy from down under Ausi!

@@williamsteel4694 thank you very much🤘 Yeah, I’m 60. I remember back in 2001 when I first connected with triads, I had an Ah Ha😮moment. And out of my mouth I mumbled - “😲it’s all about triads”. It was at that moment I saw the connection. There’s so much more to it as well, I just scratched the surface.

Awesome video. The lesson is without a doubt one of the best on this subject. The visual could use a bit of improvement to make it feel like a more unified whole, maybe even channel’s theme (fretjam and samjamguitar for examples, one look and you know it’s them). This channel has so much potential.

Well presented...however, at present, some of that is 'not sinking into my head'. The graphics are brilliant. The story of the family is truly an inspiration. It will help me remember the notes/sound of the chord if that is right. What totally through me was the guitar! The black and white markings...I found it hard to look at, for whatever reason. I realised that it was laid out as piano keys.I could not see the notes of the fret within my mind's eye. However, the other guitar design was fine. This must be an 'optional illusion,' as they say. I will need to go through this presentation quite a few times to gain a better in-depth understanding of this particular topic...possible using a non-black and white fretboard. But all that said the presentation is 1st class. Thank you.

Yes the white labels are the C Ionian scale. When I first tested those labels on my guitar, I thought it looked a bit confusing. Then when I played it, in C major, I realized what a great teaching tool - if the student had it on the neck. This channel is more of an “exercise” channel. But there were a few videos I needed to put out on some basics first. Although it’s best to play along with the labels on the your neck, it can be done without it. Once you know the starting point, you can easily see what notes I am playing. For learning purposes only, I only play notes in the C major scale, (white notes only) and show all the patterns to look for. Once you memorized the patterns, you can shift the scale anywhere up or down. Thanks, I’m glad you liked the video, sorry the labels confused the matter.
@m.vonhollen6673
@m.vonhollen6673 4 ай бұрын
Play a major scale (there’s a half-step between 3-4 and 7-8). This is what’s used to construct triads. A major triad is 1-3-5, a minor triad is 1-b3-5, an augmented triad is 1-3-#5, and a diminished triad is 1-b3-b5. Learn to construct triads and to recognize their sound. Later learn the 3 inversions (1-3-5, 3-5-1, 5-1-3) on all 4 sets of 3 strings). Memorize those 4 formulas for triad construction and start working on constructing them.

@@willabestorms6059 I didn’t focus on it in this video but do mention a video I did about it (with a link) at the beginning (prerequisite video for this video) My earlier videos explain the C major scale reference to the labels. I should have gave it a bit of a mention and a quick explanation. That would have been better. One guy actually said, since he didn’t have the neck labels, this video didn’t relate to him. When it actually does, whether he uses to labels or not. It’s still there on the neck, you just can’t see it. I talk a lot about them in earlier videos. Here is the office mention - FREE D.I.Y. @@davidbartos214 that is just pointing out that, that note is an A. Saying the “A” is at this position (fifth fret). The A being your root note. All that segment is saying is that each triad can be played on different areas on the neck. The fifth fret being one of them. Hence A is on the E string 5th fret but also on the next string open fret. Thank you for the question.

Yeah, my focus is to show patterns. I know calling out all these numbers can get a bit confusing to keep up with. But the “math” is elementary. When you play with these dyads and triad shapes at home, you should start to hear the music inside the math. Play with the combination of dyad and triad pattens and hear how they harmonies with each other to make music.

Just like now with photoshop. Plus Ai isn’t going to think this much outside of the box when teaching the guitar. My videos are different because of the point of view, not because it’s animated.
