I caught your earlier video on the real V44 vs the Bowie style. What caught my interest was the green buffalo handle on the Bowie. I have a Collins Legitimus No 128 machete that has the same green buffalo handle with steel pins. The story is that my father who worked in the oil fields from 1918-1948 got it from a fellow that had been working in South America drilling oil during the 30s and 40s. The knife is about 27 inches overall with a 5 inch handle and the blade slightly under 22in. I carried the machete on many "adventures" as a kid back in the mid 50s in rural south eastern Oklahoma.

Sounds like a Collins machete with green horn handles. There were a couple other companies that used horn handles in the early 1900s. The other two that I have that are horn are more tan.

Thanks man! I was having a hard time with the lighting and everything… I just want to give people like a look at these historical knives. I may try more of a slideshow to get more detailed images.

I'm so glad I found this video. I've had this mystery knife for years and didn't know what it was. It was something I had from clearing out my childhood home some years ago. After watching this I believe I have one of the Australian knives. A marz machine from Brisbaine? I'd love to show you images if possible. It's quite rusty and I'm wondering how to care for it? Thank you for all the info.

also bit of trivia. I happen to live in Collinsville, CT where the Collins knives were made.
