At the start of this vid I was thinking; "I can't believe he's going to mod that good looking Vostock!" At the end of the vid I am like, "I have to mod all of my watches like Jody!" Lol But seriously, you made some beautiful color choices for the dial, the hands and of course you are dead on right about that vintage band. Thoroughly enjoyed the vid. PS; a tiny bit of Rodico on the tip of the screwdriver will keep the screws from being "fiddly".

Waiting for almost a month now, got "lucky" and ordered in the holidays week (forgot a lot of shops are closed for new years, silly being from Russia myself lol). Watch is finally in the air, so hopefully one more week. I just received a sexy new bezel from One-second-closer, I think they are out of Poland. The bezel I received is top notch quality, very fine metal work, and the insert fits nicely (with that hypo cement, thanks for the tip!). I already have a blushark nato strap waiting for the watch.. Mods arrived before the subject of modding :) I'm in line for more mods on meranom lol, I want that signed steel crown, display back, and a steel movement holder (why not lol). One step closer also have very sexy looking hands for Vostok, thinking if I should order more lol.

I quite like the idea of modding, got my first ever so all enthused about it and lining up no 2 and no 3 hehe I haven't since the 80s had anything really I could call quality, used Timex's in the army and Sekonda quartz for everything else then last year I fixed an old Sekonda Safari I found in a drawer and discovered an engaging hobby fixing up old watches from it. Now I have a fair few Sekonda's, quite a few Eaglemoss military themed ones, and a fake £3 Rolex that surprised the life out of me at how bloody good it looks and hasn't lost a second since it arrived couple weeks back O.o (the intention was to butcher it for glass, bracelet and movement)

For ungluing the bezel insert I like to put the bezel in a jug of the hottest tap water for 5 minutes, then put it in boiled water for another five minutes (putting it straight into boiled water right away I think would be too hot). After that the glue is nicely warmed up and it is a lot easier to pry the bezel insert off the bezel!

Super end result Jody, even if I had my doubts about the plan at first. But ya really gotta invest in some better tools. Stripping a screw head would be tragic. One thing I’ve seen you do multiple times in your mods, which I can’t quite figure out why, is that you glue the bezel insert down before you put the bezel on the watch. The likelihood that it won’t align with the indices is very high. I always glue the bezel down last and with SKX inserts, I recommend the adhesive from either Dagaz or Crystaltimes. It makes the end result quick and easy with no chance that glue is gonna leak out and gum up bezel rotation. But, like I said, the end result is a winner even if you got lucky. Another good one. Damn, now I gotta look at a Vostok.
@JustOneMoreWatch6 жыл бұрын
Agree re the SKX mod, I got lucky, but the Vostok is a bi-directional friction bezel so it doesn't matter, the bezel insert always lines up! And yes, you gotta tick up a Vostok, they are ridiculous value. Cheers!
