𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺: I completed the MSc Curriculum and Instruction in under 6 months
I wanted to share a little bit about how I completed my first course at WGU so quickly. Again, this is specific to the first course in your program, not courses that happen later on. I talk about the orientation and additional prep work. I should mention that this video is referring to performance-based assessments (papers), as opposed to objective-based assessments (tests). I'm enrolled in the Master of Science (MS) Curriculum and Instruction program in the Teachers College.

Hi Justin! Thanks for all the helpful content! I am planning to begin the C/I program Feb. 1 I am a sp. ed teacher with 26 yrs. of experience. I'm wondering if you have any helpful tips or suggestions for me. I am nervous as this is out of my territory, but excited to learn something new! Being a special ed teacher I am constantly writing, so I am hopeful this will be something that will help me in this program. Thanks again.

that is definitely encouraging to hear! I may reach out for some guidance once I begin- I am a bit of a perfectionist when completing an IEP. I am sure the writing style is quite different for this program, and it may be a big learning curve for me!@@lifebyjustin thanks again!

@@apriladair4914The nice thing about WGU is that you don't have to aim for perfection; you just need to hit "Competency" instead of Mastery on assignments. Essentially, you're aiming for a B grade to pass. Like anything, you'll get the hang of writing after a few assignments. It won't take long :)

Hey! I don’t specifically but if you go on LinkedIn and search the program as keywords, you’ll find tons of people who’ve completed it, and I’m sure some with less than a year. Also, there is a teacher on youtube named The Purrfect Pencil who did the Learning and Tech program, which quite similar in coursework. She did it in 6 months while working full time and made a video on it. You can check her out :)

I didn’t take it at WGU. I took it at another university in 2009. At WGU, I studied for a master’s degree in education.

Hello! I did the MS Curriculum and Instruction and the MEd Learning and Technology through WGU (2 programs). I am done both at this point. Most courses had 2-4 academic papers. Some courses had presentations instead of papers. I have lots of videos on my channels, some are focused on my experience paper writing. Feel free to check them out

Can I get your advice. I have 15hrs a week to do school at WGU. Wednesday 3hrs, Thursday 3hrs, Friday 7hrs and Saturday 3hrs. I only have 12 OA’S left. How can I get at least 6 classes done per semester. Thank you in advance.

I don't have a magic wand for the perfect answer, but it boils down to your focus and study habits. Also, how well information sinks in matters. Read the book "Deep Work" by Cal Newport for helpful insights on concentrating without distractions during cognitively demanding tasks. He's got some practical advice to offer.

Thank you for the advice! Sorry for the late reply I read the book you suggested. It had a lot of great info! I’m going to try it out this week and see what happens. Since you went to WGU as well. How did you go into a course what was the first things you did to really tackle it?

@@jarred9561 Awesome! And most of my time at WGU included writing papers-about 95%. I have a strong interest in writing. I can sit down and write for long periods of time, even when it comes to academic papers. That's what allowed me to work through my programs with ease. It was a genuine interest in working on schoolwork, as well as staying focused and disciplined to get the work done when I had the opportunities. I know it might sound vague, but honestly, that's the way I was able to accelerate. Beyond that, I have lots of videos on my process. Most of my channel is dedicated to my process, you can look through the WGU playlist I have.

@@lifebyjustin o alright I wish mine were all papers and videos. I find those easy to do! I wonder if that’s my problem studying and school feels like a chore and I don’t get any enjoyment out of it. I’ll check out some more of your videos thank you for your advice!
