Ohh this is fabulous I purchased this pattern last week, not realising how perplexed it really is. Going to enjoy your help. Think this pattern is going to be a slow and steady one.

I bought the pattern and a kit, and I’ve been pouring over the pattern first, in order to not be overwhelmed😆. I thought I’d search KZbin to see if anybody was doing a sew along and found you. This is going to be so helpful! I think the key is to take it in little sections at a time, like the book is laid out. I’m kind of sad I didn’t find you before because doing it as a block/section of the month would be so much less stressful. Your videos are great!

I've signed up for your BOM. Receiving a portion of the fabric at a time is best for me ... this quilt seems challenging, but your videos is giving me confidence. Thank you!

I have the old version of the pattern and I wonder what are the differences to the new one. Can you possibly explain?
@CompletelyQuilted2 жыл бұрын
I really don't know as I have not seen the old pattern. But I think this pattern book is awesome! Maybe worth checking out your local quilt shop and taking a look if you want to make an investment in the new one.

On Instagram, Tula has talked about the butterfly quilt and pattern. Obviously the biggest change is the color way, but she did say she tweaked some instructions in the pattern that she thought made it less confusing. I’ve never seen the old pattern, but it might be worth it to get the new pattern. It’s really very nicely laid out.

Ok. I’m finding the instruction booklet slightly overwhelming. I don’t know where to really begin and I’m terrified to cut and mess up my fabric. Reading again for the third time. 😳🥹. I can do this. Would it be possible for you to reference the page number, block number, section, or any other identifying information for clarification purposes? In the directions it just has solid colors. I know there is a fabric guide and a placement reference but it still is a little confusing; for example, when I look at large log cabin on page 6 it doesn’t specify which materials colors to use but just says six fabrics. How do I distinguish which six fabrics it is asking me to use?

The concept is that we pick what we want to use, not use exactly what is in the pattern. I was overwhelmed too, but then when I looked at the butterfly I realized it wouldn't matter if I was a little off or a lot off of the colors - it is such a kaleidoscope to begin with. I suggest you do one block at a time, not cut everything out all at once. As you go along, you will get more comfortable and may want to switch some colors up.

I put blocks in baggies labeled with their names "Intersection", Chunky Cross", etc.
