Update from a 2nd Lt, USMC: None of this is the same except the course material. They now do 2 subjects a week (ex. - Aero & Engines). First subject test on Fridays, second on the following Tuesday. It's now 4 weeks of academics followed by 3ish weeks of flying depending on WX. I personally waited 6 months to class up. Good luck y'all.

Just a heads up: -no more OHARP (COVID) -APOOL is 3 months max (COVID) -API is now NIFE (IFS is gone, All courses have been "gutted" to just the essnetials) -API/NIFE is currently online -No FSF -The flying portion of NIFE is less than IFS (no solos). It will be taught by navy instructors and skywarrior CFIs

Appreciate you watching! And Negative. What you learn in the lectures is all you get. Cause there are times where instructors give out privileged information that cannot be released outside of the walls.

update: ~90 days OHARP is happening again. And after initial check-in it's still 6-9 months in A-Pool before NIFE classes up. not sure on what's changed further down the line.

For week two, you mention "basket weaving." Did you notice many other people with majors in completely unrelated subjects? Do you think college majors contribute to whether you get fixed-wing or rotary? Thank you for all of this information. Straight to the point and detailed; great stuff.
@FaithByFlight4 жыл бұрын
Lots of majors were completely unrelated. Majors can contribute, especially if youre an aviation heavy major like I had and come in with 600 hours of prior flight time/flight instruction. But if you work hard and send it, you can get what you want if your scores are good enough.

Was there a huge difference in people in your class wanting rotary over fixed wing, vice versa?
@FaithByFlight4 жыл бұрын
More people wanted P-8s and V-22s over any other platform. It was surprising to see that fewer people wanted strike than I had anticipated going in. There were quite a few that wanted rotary. Most people, in the long run, got what they wanted.

When you say "pay attention to the wording" for the weather exam, is it similar to the weird wording on the cyber final at OCS? Because that was interesting. And for navigation, I was alright at watch-o (passed with an 80 on my first attempt), I figure aviation navigation will be different than what we did with watch-o, but will some of that carry over? Or is that going to be another massacre like it was at OCS? Thanks for the videos!!
@FaithByFlight4 жыл бұрын
The wording is just tricky. I didnt have the cyber exam, so i couldnt tell you if it is similar. Just pay attention to the details and youll be good to go.

How should I go about making sure I get into an aviation job at the recruiters
@FaithByFlight3 жыл бұрын
Heres how I did it 1. Tell them you want to be an Aviator 2. Get good scores/Have a lot of prior flight time 3. Sign the paper that says you will become a Student Naval Aviator(SNA)commissioning 4. Go to OCS In all cases, specify what you want and dont back down

@@FaithByFlight also, how can I get flight time prior to training?
@FaithByFlight3 жыл бұрын
@@rod2662 If you know someone that has a plane, ask them to take you up for a couple flights. If theres a local Civil Air Patrol squadron, schedule a "discovery flight" and join them for a bit to get some experience. Or look up CFI's in the area and see if you can get some instruction in one of their planes after doing a discovery flight.

It doesnt hurt to study beforehand. I wouldnt be studying nonstop as thatll lead to burnout. Everything that is on the test will be talked about in class and in the book.

@@Lead1121 Sorry I didnt get back to you beforehand, hopefully everything went well. All you can do for these tests is study up and quiz eachother at your study group. As long as you are actively studying the material and getting a grasp of it, you should be fine.
