Thanks so much! We had a great time on the trail. We only wish we'd timed things better, so that more stuff was open and perhaps the weather might have been better. Cheers!

It's 3:30am in Texas as I'm watching and I can use a Yowie coffee. Lol. And there's a Texas song. I have exes here too Haha. Thanks for sharing your adventures. ✌

We love the Yowie! Apparently the Yowie statue used to have a rather prominent.... ahem... "Male part," but locals kept breaking it off and stealing it, so now we have a gender-neutral yowie. 😂 Everyone could do with a few Texas exes... or not... haha! Thanks, mate!

Another terrific vid, folks! I can understand your enthusiasm on finding the Yarraman Weir site; absolutely fantastic! Not sure I like the whole idea of the Yowie but, if it helps with drawing the odd extra customer or two, well, good luck to them! So, what have you got left to get up-to-date? Only another 500 kays or so? Looking forward to them....

Yes, the weir campsite was bloody marvelous! Cold, but wonderful. Not even close on the km count! Still 2,600km to where we are now! You know how we go.... A lot of detours...

Oh no…… that’s what I said when I saw you were heading to the hi way. Oh gee that would have been really unpleasant and scary. Sorry to tell you when it’s all to late but you should have gone across to Kilcoy on Greggors creek road. Much much more bike friendly. Oh well maybe next time.
@VeloObscura2 жыл бұрын
Haha, yeah we know all about that road NOW 😆. I remember seeing it on the map and we didn't know if we wanted to take the gamble, as many times we've ended up on some sort of 4wd track and we just didn't have the time. Its tough because everywhere we go, we're going for the first time, so usually we don't have any local knowledge and everything is a gamble! Since then I've seen everyone go that way! Thanks for commenting! 😁

Hi there, I'm wanting to cover these trails that you guys have been doing in Queensland. I'm in the process of looking for a bike packing bike, an observation from your videos is that a big majority of the trails might be better on a mountain bike ?
@stevethorne23162 жыл бұрын
I only say that because it seems everyone is riding bikes w suspension, but I always thought it was juts a bit of a gimmick
@VeloObscura2 жыл бұрын
Howdy. If you're looking at a bikepacking bike with a view to carrying stuff - tent, cooking gear etc - then it's hard to beat a hardtail mountain bike. Personally, I'd go for a fully rigid one for real expedition stuff as a matter of reliability and not having to service a fork periodically, but for weekend missions a hardtail is great. Suspension definitely isn't a gimmick and a lot of the trails at bike parks 100% require full suspension, but for bikepacking it's more of a hindrance. Certainly riding rail trails like the BVRT you are actually making life harder for yourself riding a full suspension bike, not to mention wearing out some expensive parts and eating into your service intervals for the shock and fork. A lot of this depends on what you're going to ride. If you're planning on doing a more road-based trip, you'd be better off with a different bike, but the hardtail definitely wins in terms of versatility and will be fantastic for the BVRT. Hope that helps!

Any time, Steve! As a small addition; Gravel bikes are very popular these days and work fantastic on terrain like the BVRT, they also go alright on road with the right tyre choice, but I do think they JUST lag behind the versatility of the hardtail in a few ways. Good luck in your hunt! If you need a second opinion on any bikes you're looking at, just give me a shout! 👍
