Thanks for simplifying the concept. Please suggest why we need two control system ESD and PLC. Why can't be it in one.

It all depends on the standard industrial compliance. ESD and PLC are not same. They have different standards regarding trips for Assets protection and Occupational hazards.

Do we have any trip signals that would go from PLC panels to ESD and then to electrical feeder?? And what type of communication is happening between REPS Panels and PLC Panels. Is it MODBUS or some other mode of communication??

No trip signal from PLC to ESD. MODBUS communications is used between REPS and PLC. This is an example video to show how complex control system is interconnected in a process plant.

@@learninstrumentationengine268 thanks for ur swift response..U r doing a great job...keep it up man Just one more thing... Are REPS Signals directly going to Electrical feeder for tripping if not then how this tripping is being initiated by REPS as these signals are communicating to PLC Panels over MODBUS

Not all signals are modbus. Trip signals are hardwired to PLC. In case of machine monitoring, PLC is master. So, other auxiliary control system will send their trip signals to PLC. Then, PLC will Trip the electrical feeder system.
