In the early 90's one of my favorites were the fila hightops with the Velcro straps that you would hang off the back. I forget the model name. But my absolute favorite from that time period were jordan 4's. Shelltoe adidas / superstars, air max, timbs , Cortez. Reebok classic nylons were in heavy rotation too. Both those and the filas were mad affordable and came in any color you could want . we were rocking new balance back then too..cats act like new balance are new to the culture - "You wanna diss the Phifer but you still don't know the half/ I sport New Balance sneakers to avoid a narrow path" - Phife , tribe called quest , "buggin out "

Welty’s rant about sizing is my #1 gripe with sneaker companies. Nothing worse than buying your 100th pair from the same brand only to find out that they don’t fit.

I talked to my niece she is in 8th grade, I turned her into a sneakerhead, I got her the dunk low Homer Dunks. She told me that most people on first day of school showed up in Panda Dunks lows and highs. She said she was happy she was wearing a pair of shoes no one was wearing and told me never to buy her panda dunks😂

9:15 I’m in the process of doing that! Ultimate goal is to only keep all collab sneakers that are in specific colors. On the shelf, 4 rows, 4 pairs each row. 1st row pure white, 2nd white/black, 3rd white/grey, 4th white/unc blue, 5th white/burgundy. So a total of 16 pairs max.

I bought my first And 1’s in Chicago. It was the tai-chi baby blue and navy colorway. I also was able to buy the low top baby blue tai-chi. I remember the Jordan 16’s first dropped when I bought my and 1’s.

Being a DC native Wale was a huge influence on the culture. It was so frustrating wanting to cop SB’s but not being able to get them because there were so few skate shops in the DMV area and them being heavily backdoored. It was arguably worse then it is now as far SBs go.

Nike run true to size, except AF1 that run a half size big. Adidas run mostly true to size nowadays (in UK) New Balance run true to size unless it’s cleats. My last two pairs of Reebok ran half size big too 🤷‍♂️
