Classical game theory was developed during the mid 20th century primarily for application in economics and political science, but in the 1970s a number of biologists started to recognize how similar the games being studied were to the interaction between animals within ecosystems. Game theory then quickly became a hot topic in biology as they started to find it relevant to all sorts of animal and microbial interactions from the feeding of bats to the territorial defense of stickleback fish.

Such indirect reciprocity rating systems lift the game to the next level where upvoting and downvoting somebody is in itself cooperation and defection. Mind Lacie, the character from Black Mirror series. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nosedive_(Black_Mirror)

What happens when a defector builds a track record of defection and co-operation with in a group implementing a generous tit for tat system? my thoughts are the group would change strategy's, eventually defecting for a set of terns regardless if the individual begins to engage in consistent co-operation. the sum of terns would be dependent on the groups satisfaction of the generosity and until the individual defects on the groups defection, engaging in a basic tit for tat system and eventually generous tit for tat with group co-operation and reintegration. That or the individual leaves the group with there new stratagy, fully conscientious of the group dynamic with the intention to find a new healthy group to engage with tit for tat, then generous tit for tat.. its also possible the individual would be avers to group systems from then on, or are a dedicated defector who engages in manipulation.

It seemed more like an ethical topic rather than a lecture in computer science. Nicely explained though!

Are we to infer that we can spot defectors by their wearing of neck ties. What are you trying to tell us here?
