What a beauty, makes me wonder why every body feels the need for a sports watch
@walkerb17344 жыл бұрын
Richard Weir I totally agree. It seems these days everyone wears a huge chunk of shiny steel, rotating bezel, multi-color, 300m sports watch. There is just something so gentlemanly, sophisticated and elegant as a piece like this. It certainly can make a man stand out from the rest.

@@walkerb1734 sounds like we share a passion for non sports watches. Don't get me wrong, I have a Speedy which is great, but I recently bought a Vacheron constantin Royal Eagle, preowned and it is beautiful, silver dial on Brown Alligator strap with white gold numerals, I love it and get a real sence of joy when I wear it. And the great thing is 9/10 people wouldn't no what it is, so I don't have to worry about where I can wear it.

@@richardweir3342 I share that love and appreciation of dressy gentleman’s pieces. I also have a sub and gmt master 2, but there is a different feeling that I get when strapping on one of my more refined pieces.

I used to think A Lange and Sönhe have the most beautiful complications and case back. Though they might be more complicated, this Vacheron is truly the most beautiful I have seen till date. That case back is a sight to behold!

Such a beautiful Vacheron Constantin! Flawless in every detail but understated elegance at first glance. Definitely the epitome of luxury. A piece of history one would wear for the most special occasions. The remainder of it’s life would be locked away in the safe awaiting the next generation. For now we all have more time to dream and the thought of being able to slow down enough to hand wind a watch fits perfectly with our current reality.

Dear Mr Porter, not "one of the oldest watch brands, THE oldest watch brand with continuous operation since 17 September 1755! Almost 265 years! There are also "Favre Leuba" and "Blancpain" but they have both closed (the former permanently) and reopened. Some respect please!

What about Jaquet-Droz ? They exist since 1738
@konstanlyk4 жыл бұрын
youcef you He opened his first workshop in 1738, then two more in 1774 and 1784, the last one in Geneva. In 1790, after some economic turbulence they were liquidated and re-emerged in 2000 after being bought by Swatch Group. At least, as far as I know and have searched. There aren’t many information between 1790 and 2000.

Hard Take: This watch movement offers nothing more than the Sea-Gull ST1901. It's also a beautiful, manually wound colum-wheel chronograph movement, but for 1/200th the cost.

joebro391 i don’t know how i feel about it being made in china
@joebro3914 жыл бұрын
@@alexuemura2353 understandable. Quality Control will always be lagging in a country known for mass production; but the VC shouldn't charge $44,000 more for quality control (I will give some leeway for precious materials). I've owned many Sea-Gull watches and never had an issue. Even Baltic uses them (they assemble them in France) and they have no reliability issues that I'm aware of
@alexuemura23534 жыл бұрын
joebro391 you also pay for the heritage and the reliability (also it being in the holy trinity of watchmaker) but yea it’s still overpriced
@Cutekid694 жыл бұрын
I thought the VC a heavily modified Lemania Movement (which is Swiss). Seagull bought the Venus chronograph tooling (Swiss) and made them in China. Both are different movements.
