It had 2 port authority pilots aboard at the time of the accident. Not the ship owners problem. You should ask why the bridge fell apart so quickly.

Most of the youtube clips on the tragic event focus on the bridge, its vulnerabilities, etc. I want to know why did the power fail on the ship? Was the captain trying to switch to higher sulfur fuel before passing the bridge. Was the switch a problem? What caused the power to go out? Let's deal with the cause of the problem for a change!

It was not about to collapse under its own weight. If I cut off your leg and you fall down, were you about to fall over before I did that? That is what happened here. A “leg” of the bridge was destroyed.
