It is the power supply unit for cctv, it works well. The use of cat 6 is recommended for wiring AHD cameras within short distances.

Why would anybody still use AHD, TVI, or CVI systems? The image quality is never going to compared to IP (or SDI, though that's basically dead in the security world)?

There are 4K AHD cameras with picture quality incomparable to a 3MP IP camera. AHD is still being used, Picture quality depends on many factors and not just an issue of IP camera usage
