You have 3 segments: - the soft female operatic voice alternating with the soft guitar, Pixy vs. Cipher, Morgan le Fay vs. the Black Knight, a regret of former comrades - the high-speed flamenco guitar, 2 duelists dancing with death, close range dogfighting - and finally the climactic, glorious choir and orchestra expounds the majesty of flight, the epic stakes of the battle, patriotism to cause and nation, and the fury of the weapons wielded by combatants of ultimate skill

This is without a doubt the best score from the Ace Combat series. I love when the Spanish guitar enters with the soprano. The flamenco vibe is real in this piece. This whole piece represents two former friends fighting, knowing that the outcome for one of them is death. It really is a sad piece when you know the context.

The song itself describes the act of a legend in the sky, an ace of aces, "the demon lord of the round table" code name Cipher. At the end of the war (the Belkan war), he disappeared. The game really does have a good storyline comparable to other great RPG games out there, even tho the gameplay mainly focuses on flying a fighter jet. The flamenco part is trying to emulate a duel, a dance in the sky, I kid you not the last boss battle is like doing a joust between a knight where you have to fly directly to the opponent (cross path) and strike at the precise moment much like a jousting.

I love Flamenco. Of curse it was Zero, What else could it be? It's not "Megalith: Agnus Dei", It's not the "Liberation Of Gracemeria" And it's not the "Unsung war". Absolutely love your historical Breakdown of this piece and Flamenco in general, and it fits the Games narrative well. Firstly, in the context of this song being the Final Showdown piece, you're dueling your old friend after the War breaks down into Paramilitaries fighting eachother, one on one, 'Jousting' in your Jets trying to get the better of eachother. There's lots of references to Arthurian Legend in this game, the best Pilots fight it out over Airspace dubbed 'The Round Table' and the Flamenco vibe is in all tracks that play in those missions. I always liken the final fight to a Bullfight, maybe because of this music, but also because you're having to fight eachother head on, who will feint first kinda deal. Secondly, this piece as the Anthem for the whole game, it takes place during a pseudo European war and things get messy with infighting on both sides, the 'cultures' and militarys of each nation trying to survive in the face of Nuclear annihilation, the in-game Narrator (a Reporter trying to unearth truths after the war) even states 'no one knows who is the Victim, and who is the Aggressor'.

I always took the spanish guitar aesthetics to be reminiscent of bullfighting, especially in the final mission where you must take on your old wingman from facing him and shooting missiles directly into the front of his jet. In the actual game itself it feels like a matador taking on this insanely overwhelming bull that stands between him and the rest of the world

Ace Combat music never disappoints, It’s by far my favourite game franchise when it comes to the music. Oddly enough, I hardly find anyone reacting or talking about its OST outside of its fanbase, so I’m glad you’ve looked at it more now. Fellow music reactor MarcoMeatball says the AC OST was one of his greatest discoveries, and he was very surprised when in a recent livestream someone pointed out he was basically the only person reacting to a lot of the AC tracks. I recommend The Unsung War, Megalith Agnus Dei, Archange, Hush, and Liberation of Gracemeria for tracks to check out next.

Its funny that you say struggle... One more interesting bit is the fact that this gorgeus flamenco theme, associated with Spain, is played during high speed high risk aerial duel JOUSTING, face to face. Not so much different with how matador and his bull doing their deadly dance in bullfight, which is also associated with Spain. Barbaric, but graceful, dance. The struggle is very palpable. The dogfight maneuvers, the emotional struggle, betrayal, clashing ideology, and ended up that you have to shoot down your ex-wingman... Struggle, it is. I scream. I cried. Im not ashamed to admit it. Very enjoyable reaction from you, my good sir.

Alright, may I recommend the concert rendition of Ace Combat 6's Liberation of Gracemeria. It is honestly a really, really great song. If not that, Ace Combat 7 has the alicorn trio (Awakening, Alicorn, Hero of Comberth Harbor). AC7 also has Farbanti, Hush, Dual Wielder, Magic Spear, Enchanter I and II, and so much more untouched gold. Ace combat 5? You have the greatest piece of video game music I've heard called "The Unsung War", having the same lyrics as Zero here, it has a bit of symbolism behind the latin. Out of all these songs, The Unsung War should be next. It's the best video game orchestrated piece I've heard.

Day 97 of requesting House of Sacred Remains from Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. Beautifully atmospheric track and one of my fave's from video games in general. It'd be awesome to hear what you think of it. It's the theme of a level set starting from a cathedral and ending in the crypts through lots of library areas, it's not a particularly significant or infamous level at all but I think the track really reflects the hallowed grounds housing sacred relics beautifully. The 4 minute upload from the Castlevania Sound Team is the one to listen to.

When I clicked to hear a composer's educated opinion about the skill behind this music, I wasn't expecting an enlightening history lesson at all. Thank you. My interpretation of this track was also about struggle with a sense of omen. The vocals put you in the sky and the flamenco puts you in a heated struggle, so that's perfect music for a great battle in the heavens like the game puts you in. It makes me imagine the sky on fire, which is terrifying but also fills you with awe. This kind of fusion or battle of very different musical styles is something I've always loved ever since I saw a weird pepsi commercial as a kid that had mixed classical opera with rock and roll, lol.

Composer of Project Ace really know how to make soundtrack. Just a theory. Zero plays when you're dogfighting a pilot called Solo Wing Pixie. In the beginning cutscene they show Pixie with a guitar. I think all the guitar you hear (especially the solo) represents him.

I love how reaction channels can listen to this and just use it to guess the themes of the game it comes from with even a semblance of accuracy with zero knowledge of the expansive lore from the whole-ass series it comes from, it just conveys it that well. You're also more right than you know about familiar nations in a different configuration, as the series is set on an alternate Earth where the continents are differently shaped and the countries are different but have obvious analogues to reality (Yuktobania and Estovakia are different flavors of Russia, Sapin is Spain, Osea is the USA, etc.) What's not really possible to guess without knowing the context, but is still interesting, is that the lyrics (which are lifted from Ace Combat 5's equivalent track to this one) tell the story of a mythological figure from this alternate Earth that never comes up in the game. However, Ace Combat Zero is a very direct prequel to Ace Combat 5 where what the main characters go through can all be traced back to what happens in Zero, and that mythological figure becomes very important to _them_ 15 years later.

Funny thing there exist a Spain in ace combat it's called Sapin. Ace combat takes place in its own universe called strange real Belka being the country of Osea goes to war with after Belka losing most of its land during an economic depression and getting tricked into buying worthless land by Osea which caused it's depression to get worst. See Belka tried to keep up with Osea and another country called Yuktobanya which the latter two were in an arms race during a cold war

To me, Zero hands down the best Ace Combat's score. It fits very well with the story "the last dance of the two Galms". There is pain in the music which represented both Pixy's and Cipher's. Pixy's for confusion of his ideology and Cipher for Pixy's betrayal and losing his new wingman PJ.

Your friend after fighting alongside you seeing all the atrocities and suffering decided to join a terrorist organization who wanted to destroy all nations by a nuclear fallout and you were send to stop them. After you successfully did, your friend appears an aircraft that can control the nuke. So, all there’s left is you and him fighting each to death, you trying to save the world and him also also trying but with twisted methods
