I've only heard this song but I absolutely agree. There must be some kind of magic that makes the band members of these obscure bands to just keep on without the need for confirmation on a wider scale. There is just so much music in general out there that it's hard to grasp, almost like trying to fathom how many galaxies there are out there. But these bands just keeps popping up, imagine how it could be if the world was just a little better, that made it a bit easier to people to achieve their goals. Yes I know, there probably wouldn't have been as much good music out there, because a lot of the dark shit in our world makes people write good music. It's just that, for me it's hard to grasp why there are all this evil shit in the world, when there are so much awesome. The evil shit should have been eradicated by now. //rant over//

that bit that starts at 12:25 is one of the best pieces of music ever written also, Vektor’s album “Terminal Redux” is an amalgamation of technical death metal, sort of what one could describe as progressive black metal and definitely progressive thrash metal. It’s very unique and impactful.
@berserker88843 жыл бұрын
This is basically progressive blacknened thrash metal. So, it is thrash metal in its core with its musical ideas, however it has some black metal influences like high pitch grown and trem picking sections. But it is progressive as it heavily pushes the boundaries of the thrash genre.

Would love to see a review of late 80's / early 90's Voivod. Their progression as a band through a single decade is simply unbelievable to me. I like to listen to tracks like Chaosmongers, The Unknown Knows, Panorama, Moonbeam Rider then Phobos and remininding myself their respective albums came out back to back in such a short time span. (Also they really nailed and mastered those high-pitched dissonant jazzy riffs that still make me all funny inside after so many years.)

The perfect closer to my favorite album of all time. This shit is just brilliant. I love it precisely because how they managed to infuse such an aggresive overall sound with hints of...brightness, man it works so well for me. I love all 3 albums by them, one better than the other, all 10/10s, but this one takes the cake. Perfection. One thing that is indicative of how good this is, is that it has the same quality as Necrophagist's Epitaph: if you hear me going on about how much I love these albums you would assume I'm just into that whole extreme, hyper-metal stuff, and I'm really not. I love so many bands, but pretty much none of them are in that realm of metal, I'm very particular about what type of harsh vocals I like, etc. But these albums just transcend all that. It's like they break right through my barriers with the more extreme stuff, they just work perfectly in every way for me.

By extreme metal standards this album was massive when it came out in '16, and many consider it the best metal album of the decade. While it wouldn't be my choice, it's still an easy 9/10 for me. As Justsome says it's a mix of tech thrash, prog metal, and black metal vocals. It was hugely influenced by Voivod, right down to the futuristic/spacey aesthetic, though Voivod were never this virtuosic. Entire album is phenomenal but this is the final and longest track, so it's something of a crown jewel. It's an immense shame that Vektor broke up after this, because all three albums they were released were incredible, with this (their third and final one) being their best IMO. Really cool thing about Vektor is how seamlessly they melded old and new school metal styles, so while the thrash elements give it a "classic" feel, the proggy and virtuosic elements make it also feel extremely modern. Basically something in there for just about any metal fan.
@pratikmandal13503 жыл бұрын
I know all the issues that were there with David Disanto and that's why they broke up. But in my head canon, Vektor disbanded to save us, cause after this, their next material might as well have opened a wormhole that displaced the entire earth to another dimension. Also, their new material is interesting. I hope we still get pulled into that wormhole.

Your 70’s prog take is apt, as The album is dark re-telling of The story told on Rush’s 2112 album. It’s basically a prog thrash space opera and The song is quite literally The culmination of a full hour of music which it quotes liberally, so it’s certainly a bit of a jump into The deep end context wise, lol. The album is really dang unique, not just for The genre but in Vektors discography as well. Its insanely ambitious conceptually in a Way I frankly don’t think we’ve seen in thrash metal in The past 3 decades. It’s been really hard for me to listen to The album after it came out that The lead singer/song writer/guitarist had a history of being abusive towards his wife, but I also just cannot shake how tremendous of an artistic accomplishment it is.
