Composite Analysis in ANSYS ACP

There is an issue with using 2d body for analysis for ACP composite pre. I am forced to select 3d in analysis type by ansys. When i select 3d in analysis type, the body wont show at all as it is 2d. You could have done the design modeller bit too as it wouldnt have taken much time and cleared many confusion for most of us. anyway great tutorial, thank you for making this.

I liked the video, I am having a problem studying an assembly where one of the pieces is made of composite material. When placing the assembly in the ACP module, when I go to the setup only the part to which I am going to apply the composite material appears (I understand that it is because I defined it as a surface previously), but when I link the ACP module to the structural static I only see links the composite part and not the entire assembly.

Hello, thanks for your explanations! But I wonder why you created a sublaminate if you do not use it. Shouldn't you have used it when defining modeling groups for top and bottom?

Well, fatigue analysis of composites is a complicated subject. If you mean long-fibre composites, there is no available analysis tool for these types of composites. I have researched the subject a couple of times. However, if you mean a short-fibre composite material; then, there are some tools for it. There is an external module of ANSYS which is called 'nCode DesignLife'. It consist of an analysis tool for short-fibre composites. I am not really proficient in this module but I think that there are some tutorials about it. Good luck.

Am trying to do the same for solid bodies. My geometry loads up correctly in geometry modeler but I can only see surfaces in ACP setup.Any idea why?

Since meshes are 2-D, maybe you are looking at the wrong side.

Hi, I have ANSYS mechanical 17.2 and I never received the composite prep ACP extension. I am no longer on TECs and ANSYS tells me they no longer have access to the 17.2 version. (which i find hard to believe). At any rate do you have a copy of the 17.2 ACP composite extension that i could get from you? Thank you.

I am not sure if 17.2 has ACP or not... I recommend u to switch to latest version, if you do not have copyright issues... ACP is being constantly developed...

You have a shell geometry, right? What type of mesh did you apply?
