I now understand the chronological order of the Kylies, and another video shows how they were able to do it in one take because of super precise camera movement, but I still don't understand what program isolates her so well without the use of green screen. Is it simply about having a big team of people willing to go through every single frame editing individual pixels?
@kofinart3 жыл бұрын
I know we had crappy Intel Pentium back then, but I'm still wondering about the program too. This was said to take 15 days to edit.

@ScribblebytesWorldwide2 жыл бұрын
It's called Rotoscoping. It's still used today. After Effects has the function. You don't need a greenscreen. Also (if you're smart about it), with camera tracking functions you don't need that motion control camera they used.
@adamriozzi2 жыл бұрын
If you look very cloesly. there is some pretty bad rotoscoping, understandable maybe for the time it was made. But no one really noticed anyway. Amazing video.
@Powhart Жыл бұрын
@@adamriozzi I was thinking the same - nowadays watching this video in a high resolution devices people are noticing those areas especially in the hair, and especially in the last loops where she is closer to the camera. Anyway they've made an amazing job and this video still remains as the prime example of an conceptual music video: the video where the performance or the plot doesn't matter, but there is something about this that makes you think "huh... that's a cool idea". I'm showing this video to the young guys nowadays and they are still amazed, probably realizing that nowadays they don't seem to be such good video clips ;)

@ScribblebytesWorldwide2 жыл бұрын
Rotoscoping.
@CarpinchoLopez10 ай бұрын
@@ScribblebytesWorldwide But...I think it's something different than rotoscoping. I think it somehow separates the pixels that match and those that don't match from shot to shot. (The street, background, or stationary objects will always match while moving objects will not)

@@CarpinchoLopezit was easier because the camera was digitally set up to always make the same loop and movements in the exact amount of time. I guess that's the part you are not taking into account. Otherwise yeah it would have been a pain in the a... trying to edit that

The only thing that always bothered me about this video is that there are instances where multiple Kylies are occupying almost the same space but don't cast shadows and it throws off the illusion. Still a great video though.

But what part of the song? The one on the left video or the right video? What about the ones where there is superposition? Which moment in time? Does the music pause when the video does to show the differences? Does it keep going forwards and backwards to the music in each loop? This is why they didn't add the music. it's complicated and even if they made a decision of what segment of the song to use in each situation, it would be distracting. You could always look at the other side of the video and realize that the audio is not in sync.
