I use a composition notebook journal made in India and it’s fine (on my 10th one now). I add paint and collage on every page and sometimes pockets. I never double up pages. It holds up to everything. The acrylic paint reinforces the paper a bit too.

What kind of watercolor do you use for the journaling pages? I’ve tried using inexpensive brands of watercolor but they tend to be very grainy and gritty on the page when they dry.

Do you put down a layer of Liquitex medium then watercolor?

No I put it straight on my page. That paper is awesome. Takes lots of liquid.

How far in advance do you paint the pages?

I usually paint a spread or two in advance. Sometimes, it might be the night before I want to journal the next day, so it has time to dry. Thanks for watching!
