Timesteps by Wendy Carlos. I first listened to it when I was 8 years old and my dad played the A Clockwork Orange’ score on a road trip. I got so overwhelmed that we had to stop the car, and I’ve been a lover of contemporary music and electronic instruments since then.

Just found your channel… I have just become very interested in operas since seeing an explanation/ synopsis of Turndot. I was hooked! I’ve been listening to a lot of Pavarotti and wished I could have seen him live! I have never seen an opera live, which is a CRIME, because growing up I lived next door to and babysat for two San Diego Symphony musicians(cello & viola).., they have always played every opera season and summer “pops” series we have at out water front. They are going to retire in a few years so I’m really hoping to get to see them play with our top notch symphony!Rigoletto & Turndot are on top of my list! 😉🎵

So great to hear about all these composers here! Sarah Kirkland Snider is one of my favorite womxn composers; she’s written some fabulous vocal music! I know her more for her piano and chamber music, which is equally brilliant and beautiful.

So glad to share them! And I will definitely be checking Sarah Kirkland out.

I know I'm late to the game, but how about some Renaissance and Baroque female composers, circa pre-Bach? My favorite is Barabara Strozzi, check out her piece "La Riamata da Chi Amava" it's a wonderful soprano duet with continuo and strings, masterful text painting and satisfying harmonic resolutions after layered dissonances near cadences. I believe she published more secular works in mid seventeenth century Venice than any composer, man or female.

Hey, Avi. Did it ever occur to you that it's been three months since you made this video, and you haven't been post any videos since then, which begs the question, "What's the hold up, why did you stop?" Respond when you've got time. Hopefully you're doing well.
