I'm always curious about how to make these cuts, but I'm always also wondering how to get them cut exactly to length.

I'm late to the party here but you know what would have been easier? Grab your replacement leg of the same size/dimensions- put it up against the broken leg. Make sure the stool is sitting as level as it can be on three legs. Grab a level scrap piece of wood, put it against the floor with one side touching your replacement leg. Scratch a line onto it using the scrap piece of wood. boom you have your angle of the floor to the leg scribed right on to it.

Well said. Never measure what you can scribe.

Thank you! Best video on here for this, (oddly so many less views than one I watched which was some non informative bro video with a bit of lame humour)

"I know this looks like an L but it is a square." Ha, yeah, I suppose it is!

Thank you for this, Ive been searching all over for the math solution to solve this exact problem of how to determine the compound angles if you have at least the known height and distance between the top of the leg to the bottom of the leg.
