Antiwhiteism can be really subtle. Take the movie Se7en for example. Somerset (Morgan Freeman) was calm, cool, collected and intelligent. He frequented the library so much that the overnight security guards knew him. Mills (Brad Pitt) was low impulse and watched football on television instead of reading. Mills needed cliff notes to understand. The pathologist was black. Mills required an explanation from the pathologist, while Somerset immediately understood. The DA was black. The janitor who scraped Somerset's name of the door was white and slow. The one of the black library security guards made a joke that made the white library janitor laugh out loud. Black people are witty, intelligent and slow to anger. White people are of lower intellect and have low impulse control. Tell-a-vision has a major impact on how some people see the world. Young black kids watching would see themselves as superior due to their overrepresentation and portrayal in Hollywood. Once you see it, the chances of not seeing the social engineering, propaganda and symbolism are impossible to unsee.

I'm watching the movie right now but there’s an intriguing scene where the ship's gravity switches on and off automatically at short intervals. During these moments, objects float and then fall again, creating an atmosphere of instability and tension. However, when they are looking for fuel to the pods, when they enter a room there's a liquid container, with its liquid content miraculously remaining in place. In reality, with a constant cycle of gravity and microgravity, any loose liquid would quickly disperse, floating during the zero-gravity periods and spreading throughout the ship. How?? How did they let these details slip, which end up undermining the entire atmosphere of the film?
@borislugosi545 күн бұрын
Not only that, but what even is the point of a "gravity purge" in the first place?

the trans alien that identified as a unicorn was kinda weird…what? you mean that wasn’t in the movie? i was just guessing since i wouldn’t pay to watch any new hollywood trash.

I liked Romulus! My issue was it seems Fede Alvarez wasn’t able to realize his version to the fullest! Maybe I’m wrong but I feel like 20th Cen probably held him back from making and even more terrifying film! I think the 3rd act is what holds this movie back as well I would have preferred more Alien hunting the characters scenes as well!

I enjoyed Romulus. I thought it was really cool. Not enough tech and sci-fi stuff. But solid entry into the Franchise. I think Rain Carradine the lead woman could be a good protagonist moving forward for a few movies. The adventures of Andy and Rain Carradine, could be a really cool premise. What if we wake up in a High tech world and we get to explore some aspects of Weyland Yutani or their competition. Of course it will have to devolve into Aliens Killing people, but that is a Direction I would love to explore. I think the new TV show is going to do something similar (alien:earth).

I didn't like it either. It was miscast, no memorable set pieces, and xenomorphs are supposed to be perfect specimen killing machines, and this 16 year old girl is killing them?...come on.

Alien is indeed perfect, but Romulus is a solid and enjoyable expansion of the world Scott and Cameron created. Nothing wrong with a low-stakes little, modest budget heist movie in space. It had tons of practical effects, wasn't woke and had a great premise (not least adding more depth to WY). Given the usual slop churned out by Hollywood, Romulus was a fun romp.

Great outfit! They just need to leave this franchise alone for a while. And please stop trying to have the alien a shitty backstory. Personally I prefer The Thing over Alien. A similar concept, but the alien is a lot more scary cause it has no single form. The Xenomorph off similar with it different stages, but The Thing could be anyone or anything.
@horrorfanandy464718 күн бұрын
I adore Alien, but I do think The Thing slightly beats that film overall. Both are masterpieces, but you cannot beat John Carpenter at the height of his creative genius!

It’s not a movie. It’s a haunted house 🏚️ ride of best-of hits. The opening created a world & concept with so much potential. Then someone thought it was a good idea to invite Ridley Scott on set

Hudson is one of my favorite movie characters, and it shows how great Bill Paxton was in the part. He was arrogant, then he was a whining coward, then he was an ultimate badass on the Aliens at the end. Another actor would have made the character completely unlikable, yet you loved Hudson. When they gave the lead actress one of his iconic lines at the end of Romulus, I just had to shake my head. You cheered when Hudson screamed it at a swarm of Xenos because he earned that moment. Rain using it was just another stolen line that made you think of a better movie.

Tom Skerritt was great in the first one. If Tom Skerritt was in the new one, then everyone would be saying 'what a great Tom Skerritt performance. We should cast Tom Skerritt more often.'

You need to watch the longer directors cut of Alien 3, its make so much more sense as they cut too much out on the final.

Oh and the face-huggers were 3D-printed on the station. They extracted the black goo from the one Sigourney shot out the life-boat. But when it comes to the queen and eggs it's basically the same problem as the chicken or the egg. Did the world's first chickens hatch out of eggs? If so, who laid them. It's the same conundrum with anything that originates from an egg. Anacondas and Boas give birth to live young though.

The idea was that they were basically 3D printing genetically enhanced facehuggers from the xenomorph’s DNA. Still not a great plot but I hope this provides a bit of context.
