Wow I am impressed! Extremely clean install. Just watched this entire series.. I am steam fitter myself, have been for 25 years and I have to say your buddy has a serious set of skills. His attention to detail is impressive. What trade is he in? Pretty nice to have friends like that. Well done!

I would not trust self-tappers long term to suspend an overhead load that could kill you, especially when subject to all the snags and tugging of a hose reel. On the concrete anchors I always drill completely through so the anchor can be driven down through the concrete to aid removal of the monument and also so the hole can be easily filled later. Behind each of your drops the wall is going to get soiled from use, so I would add a stainless plate to the wall behind each air drop. If you don't like the stainless, have some plates laser cut with your logo in the bottom right hand and paint blue.

I have been using them overhead in my trade for the last 30 years without a single failure. They are more hearty than you might think. I am 185 LBS and I can't even pull one out of a 14GA purlin let alone 4 of them. The reels will only weigh a fraction of that so the chances of 4 screws failing is pretty much zero.

Man. That dropping of the compressor over the installed anchors looked like a real pain. I was working alone, so I just put the compressor on it’s final resting place, then mark, then drill, both floor and vibration pads, then lean the compressor to get the pads in place under the feet one at a time, THEN hammer the anchors down through the feet and vibration pad. Torque down, loosen one of the feet by 1/16” to reduce stress on the tank.

I think it would be real interesting for Matt to get an oxy acetylene and a welding extension cord hose reel from cox. I know that is not in his wheelhouse but alot of people building these obsessed garages would probably be very interesting in it.

Matt too bad you couldn’t use your engine hoist to drop the compressor down on the studs ,probably was no anchor points on the compressor though 20:51

33:06 Wouldn't you want the PMA201 to be mounted as low as possible? It is activated as a float, so are you expecting the compressed air to force water up the 10-12" of brass pipe and into the PMA201?

I think we are good having 175psi in the tank. It shouldn't be an issue.

I just checked out install instructions for what I think is a similar product, the Drain-All by Control Devices, LLC. They say "line should have no sagging sections, droops, upward slopes, or loops as they can . . . hold condensed liquid"

I thought about this some more. When the tank has accumulated enough water, the system very similar to an "enlarged leg manometer". You have the 175psig acting across the cross-sectional area of the tank, applying a force on the water (F=pressure*area). This force causes the water level in the much smaller diameter brass pipe to rise. The system only acts this way if you have an incompressible fluid such as water that has accumulated above the horizontal run of the brass pipe, and has filled or partially filled the main tank. If the water hasn't accumulated to fill the tank, the water will simply fill the horizontal brass pipe and the less dense air will full the vertical run of the brass pipe. Whenever enough water fills the horizontal run of the brass pipe, it will start want accumulate in the tank on the conical area at the bottom of the tank, and the pressure of the air within the tank will force the water higher and higher up the vertical run of the brass pipe.

I would imagine the pipe loop added quite the volume to your tank capacity. Any idea how much? Accommodated pump motor size necessary? Consider tuned floor mounts for compressor to reduce noise if necessary.

Matt - I'm questioning WHY Mike installed the Auto Drain ABOVE the drain outlet height. Shouldn't it be at the same level which is almost ground level? That installation height might retain some amount of water - just saying........

We needed a little elevation the get to the inlet on the drain. It had a larger inlet on top of it that we needed to neck down.

I just came across this project and though I found myself wanting to correct your terminology on multiple occasions, and wondering what kind of garage you'd be running after seeing you struggle so hard putting the pre and post filters on your air dryer lol. I will say I admire you embracing your affliction and using it to be exceptional in all you do. You unfortunately lost me wholeheartedly when you ripped the American Flag sticker off the dryer and commented "I'm sorry America, I guess I don't love you that much". Maybe it was just a joke, maybe it has something to do with your OCD, but you disrespected every man and woman that has fought and died so you could have the privilege of living in a country that allows you the freedom and opportunity to buy such nice things and make these youtube videos. Sorry, but it just really struck a nerve. God Bless.
