Can anyone point me to an easy-to-understand (or well explained) correlation for the Z-Factor that is simultaneously quite accurate?

Couldn't you just read the reduced pressure from the intersection of the Tc and Vc lines? I get Pr=~0.35. When multiplied by the critical pressure (72.9 atm) I get 25.515 atm, which is pretty close to the value you calculated, and likely within the error of the plot.

The compressibility chart contains information for pr, vr, and Tr. If two of the variables are known, the other can be found.

I find p to be 28.72, if it is rounded to 2 digits, shouldn't it be 29 ?
@LearnChemE

The difference is in rounding throughout the calculations versus carrying the digits throughout.

i keep getting a really high number as my Vr please help me with this question,"Duduced the pressure exerted by 75kg of CO2 gas kept within a canister of capacity 2500L for a temperature of -30c Tc=304.2K, Pc=72.9atm. Mr=44gmol^-1" when i calculate Vr i keep getting a number over 5, please help :/

why do we create reduced temp and pressure"? it has no justification. makes no sense.
@LearnChemE
@LearnChemE 4 жыл бұрын
Because the compressibility charts available are in terms of reduced temperature and pressure
@small_ed

Thermodynamics features several dimensionless parameters for convenience that may not make sense on the surface (for example, relative pressure and temperature also are dimensionless parameters used in problems involving entropy calculations). Reduced pressure and temperature are additionally convenient in presenting compressibility expressions derived from equations of state.
