Y'all have no idea how helpful this is! I'm building a fully off-grid camper and I have a homemade bio gas collector but to way to pressurize it for my camper to use. This was a key piece of the puzzle. Now I can finish the windmill.

Same video has helped me to save more money as I run my property off- grid . Produce my own chicken,convert the waste to produce energy for cooking and generating electricity and as well as using the bio fertilizer to fertilize my garden .It's indeed a win win project for enthusiasts. It should last about as long as propane would because it's at a similar volume and pressure.

I believe you only get very short time on biogas as you need pressures off 3000psi

@@nickh4309 I think you are quite incorrect, but I am NOT an expert. Methane is NOT propane, which in turn is NOT butane… What I THINK I know; is that Butane liquifies at relatively low pressures [what you get in a standard lighter… Propane liquefies at a MUCH higher pressure [if it is pure propane? However what you get commercially as “propane” is a blend of Propane and butane??] which lowers the needed pressure to liquify it. “Natural Gas” [I THINK????] is basically methane? And requires outrageous pressure to liquify and also extreme low temperatures??? I’m not sure you can liquify methane without also low temperatures?? [again I am NOT an expert] … I don’t know which of the 3 fuels are more energy dense per molecule. But liquids are always way more dense from a storage perspective/ delivery perspective. So this is the weakness in the bio gas concept? But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a GREAT idea… it’s just a engineering problem…. I have seen pig and cow farms that have all their power made “in house” bio gas powered electricity generation!! So it’s doable for sure

It's a beautiful set up and can be done. I have no understanding really of how that fridge compressor works. I would like to learn more. You I am procing 15000 kilos chicken dung that I can process for methane. That's a lot no to mention the cow dung goat dung and every animal dung in the farm. Your direction will be appreciated on how I can learn more the system you have. We can power the machines in the farm instead of diesel fuel. Thanks buddy. Great set up

How does the compressor cool itself? Typically the refrigerant cools the compressor on re-entry.

Doing great! Have you found a good way to clean the co2 out of the biogas. It would be nice to increase the btu from 600 to 1000 per cubic foot. P1 x v1 = p2 x v2. You have a 150psi in a .66 cubic foot container that’s 99 divided by atmospheric pressure 14.7. You have 6.73 cubic feet of biogas in your propane tank or 4038 BTUs of energy or 0.035 gallons of gas equivalent.

Stephen Bishop yes, I’m thinking it would be crude but compressing the gas in a “water tank” with downward weighed pressure of several hundred pounds the releasing the gas into a different tank where it expands and cools rapidly may cause a good portion of the Co2 to become frozen. Maybe several tanks with reduced pressure stages until you get a product with much less Co2. It’s really just a thought experiment right now, but I was wondering if there were better cost and energy methods around. I seems some co2 could get trapped in water by just pumping the gas through it but if that’s only a couple ppm it would be hardly worth it. It looks like right now as far as a back yard system there really isn’t a practical ready made solution right now.

Then there are old guys that can tell you, if you let it fill for 5 minutes, you can make a nice cup coffee on your stove, and if you let it fill to 150PSI, you can cook a turkey in the oven....just saying, there is math and then there is applied math.

DO NOT DO THIS AT HOME!!!!! As a refrigeration contractor I can say this is NOT a DIY project, doing a project like this requires a lot of specialized knowledge (a lot of which has been ignored in this build) to maintain a safe operation. This is not a safe build!

You are correct sir. The refrigeration compressor combines motor windings which can induce sparks in the intake gas. I’m not sure the air fuel mixture would support combustion but it’s certainly not safe. I don’t understand why a compressor that isolates the pump and motor was not used. Seems like additional controls and safety devices would be appropriate as well.

not that expensive if you think about it, you will get free gas for burning stuff for life, a propane gas in my area like that costs 5.30 dollars and we need a new one in two weeks so we are spending 11 dollars a month on just gas for cooking...

I´m an engineer. In my country, National Guard has been controlling the propane supply and now they confiscated all the fuel in private hands. Just like a war. I NEED one of these setups to store my biogas.

Sparks/arcs from the compressor and powerbar switch, combined with buddy purging, and other buddy constantly wanting to flame test everything, itself a wonder how y'all are still alive. Soap and water. Remove ignition sources. Activate compressor from a distance, via the relocated powerbar and longer extension cord. Food for thought. **shrugs**

I hate trolls, I don’t want to be a troll, but you don’t really understand what you’re talking about. You would be correct, IF [HUGE “IF”] there was enough oxygen [mixed to a perfect ratio] in enough volume…. THEN yes it would be a bomb. Hydrogen is explosive when oxygen is present…. But if NO oxygen … even Hydrogen will NOT burn! This is true of ALL fuels! NONE of them will burn unless there is the correct amount of oxidizer available. So a gas, pumping out of a 1/4” line, out into an open field is in no way a bomb [which is what you are inferring]… these guys are in NO WAY being reckless.
