good info. now what other test can be done on the number one cylinder to determine where the leak is coming from. it could be head gasket intake or exhaust valves or rings or maybe even a crack.

I never seen compression like that one with 239 pounds. Good diagnosis. Carbon build up. Yeah head job is a great idea that will make it run like new again.
