I guarentee someone went back out to repair this fridge after he did this work, 1st, the gauges showed -15 vacuum. This is an indication of a low side leak, He did not check for leaks with nitrogen, He did not have a micron gauge hooked to his manifold so he could not see if he reached 500 microns. All techs have to start someplace and I'm glad there are still people do this job. But you have to do it right. My 4 rules I follow on every repair 1. replace filter drier when you replace the compressor, evap, and or condenser. 3. Check for leaks with nitrogen 2. pull a vaccum to less then 500 microns 3.always charge by weight to what the unit says, never by amps.

What blows my mind is how many times over the years techs in Mexico have made do with very simple tools and kept refrigerators running. Between our tiendas and four homes we have service calls. I have one that was recharged like this 6 years ago. No micron gauges, just a low side. You would think that the world would stop if everybody didn't do it like you said. But all over, simple repairs work. In America and Europe, I suppose, we do it perfectly and think that perfect is the only way.

Correct way to solder is to score both ends of pipe first, then add flux to them, then heat the pipe the other is slipped into (not the joint) before touching the joint with the solder and it should melt easily, it will then move in the direction of where the metal is hottest and make a very good seal.

I have been working on these units for a few years now and do about 1-2 a week. The Linear compressors don’t handle heat well and if you don’t clean the coils, the seals in the compressor fail and I’ve seen many times they clog the filter dryers. Always weigh the refrigerant you are reclaiming and if it’s pretty close to the factory charge, you don’t have a leak and it’s usually replacing the compressor and dryer. The ones that leak are usually the dual evaporator units. Decent video on the process but people who use the autozone r134a cans are questionable to me. And also, I own an LG refrigerator for about 5 years and I keep the coils clean and had no issues.

Thanks for the info, i think youre on to something, part of it has to do with user abuse. I clean our unit every few years and we dont abuse it leaving the door open for long periods of time. With 2 people in the house our LG is doing well so far. It may have just slipped through the cracks. Picked up a second one for almost nothing, seems like it lost refrigerant in the yoder loop, so looking to cut out the yoder loop and use it as a beer fridge if she fires up. A new compressor may be too pricey for a spare fridge. Guys are saying the yoder loop is the root of the issue since it it leaks being metal, and then compressor overheats. The design is odd to me, isnt the compressor covered in an oil bath even if it runs low on coolant ?

Not the correct way of doing this. Yes it will come on and cool but it will not be correct. The restriction or clogging as you he put is almost always in the little line. This line is called the capillary tube or line. As he pointed out the diameter of the the cap tube is very small. Makes sense that it can and will clog. He left out several extremely important steps. Let’s just say the cap tube wasn’t clogged and it indeed was the drier. A nitrogen purge must run through the lines to prevent the copper running from flacking while soldering. The flakes that are produced will clog the tiny cap tube. Seconds the reason to pull a vacuum is to remove air and moisture from the system. Moisture will cause the compressor to short out. Moisture mixed with the Refrigerartion oil causes the oil to become acidic. This eats away at the compresser motor windings until it shorts out. Third always use a Refrigerartion scale to weigh in that exact amount of Freon. The label inside the box will list how much 134 it needs. There is a reason why he didn’t show the box running after his repair. I am sure it was still restricted in the cap tube. I am more than happy to answer any questions. Just leave a reply to my comments

Dye dryers are intended that you will run the system and return to check for leaks. This is very "handy repair" not quite professional and clean. As an lg compressor installer on the daily, not replacing the conesor and compressor is just plain lazy. Just did on today that I couldn't fix because of lg policy, where the oil seal broke and oil was in the system. After blowing nitrogen for over 45 minutes and still drawing oil, it was deemed non repaiable. But yeah let's throw in a 80 dollar filter dryer just to rip it out later. That's a waste of solder and time. If the leak isn't in the cavity or evaporater lg deems it non repairable. That's by warranty standards. If you hire this guy to "repair" the unit like that? And pay money, just burn it. Cuz it will come back.

When you doing the vacuum where does the moisture & debris go from the vacuum pump? can you show me, because I got a vacuum pump too and I'm not sure how that works?
@jaredj6315 жыл бұрын
It goes into to oil and air, that is why you need to change your vacuum oil every couple of uses.

there is a vent tube on the pump, you will see it coming out as it is turned on.

What is that blue foam thingy that you touch at 0:28? My new LG refrigerator has it, much less though, is there a reason to be worried? Please help
@fidelalgarin72165 жыл бұрын
That is old flux or oxidation residue. No need to worry, unless you see oil.

fridges dont just randomly leak, its usually another cause, so this was meant more to show some of the steps.

Why don’t you just check the amperage to see if it was under charged? Why didn’t you check the temperature across the filter dryer?
@greggarcia98422 жыл бұрын
Dude you forgot to do leak test before vacuum lines. You need to used hight pressure nitrogen to perform leak test

You literally charged the system into the suction side lol. This is why I work on my own refrigerator. 1. You literally vacuumed for few minutes when you’re supposed to vacuum down to 500 microns. 2. You burned off the start component cover. 3. You didn’t use a scale to measure how much refrigerant you’re charging. 4. You didn’t check for any leaks. Don’t tell people your fridge will work just by replacing a dryer and charging. 5. Why would you check amperage when charging? What if the compressor is bad?? 6. You didn’t even nitrogen purge considering you didn’t even properly vacuum. Don’t rely on your gauges going down to -30psi. Don’t take it personally, I’m just stating the correct process of how to diagnose a refrigeration issue. Hope this helps
@tube8h5 жыл бұрын
you are suppose to charge on low side.
@Yousoundvaxxed5 жыл бұрын
tube8h you can but you’re not “supposed” to. You’re risking flooding the compressor with too much liquid. Proper way is to get a good vacuum and charge on the high side.

I want to ask something. I am repairing refrigerators for some time now, but I didn't solve this problem I encounter sometimes. After I recoil the evaporator of the refrigerator, I test the unit and it works fine, the pressure on both sides are normal. after 5-15 minutes the pressure in the low side begins to drop to negative and also in the high side lower to about 120 psi. I turn it off and the pressures take some time to normalize. Sometime, I just change the filter drier to solve the problem, but sometimes the problem continues even I change the filter drier. what causes the pressure to drop?
@gregg27426 жыл бұрын
Could still be a restriction after the dryer in the capillary tube always try to cut 1.5 inches or so out see if it frees it up. Usually right close to the dryer.
@vrichmarketingrenewableene94186 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the suggestion. this morning i totally replace the cap tube and place a new one. i also replace the oil in the compressor. after 10 min of good operation, the system falls down again. what is happening?
@ramos_dt6 жыл бұрын
Too much moisture in the system. Droplets of water freezes in the outlet end of the capillary tube. To confirm this, when the drop of pressure occurs, shut off the unit, then try heating the part where the cap tube and evaporator connects and see how fast the pressure equalizes.

vrich marketing renewable energy you have used anti choke liquid 2 piece put in passengers next gas charging your proplem solved
@Payitforward426 жыл бұрын
Your cap tube is plugged with shit or you have moisture in the system that is freezing where the cap tube enters the evaporator.

Never charge by compressor current draw. Weigh in the amount of refrigerant as listed on the model/serial number tag.
