I picked up one of those long handle propane brush burners to knock the paint off my used tanks. You just have to have a respirator, because that crap is nasty. I just squirt it down with charcoal lighter fluid, let it set a minute or two, and then go to town on it. You said you were looking for new Ideas: Have you made any fire pits out of washing machine tubs? The perforated section is usually stainless, or porcelain coated though.

Always love your videos. I learn something every time. Hey, Allen if you ever have a mind to, show the layout process. Like how you drew out the chalk lines for the legs. How you got those curves so it looked great and fit the tank. On the tank cut out if you could show your process for drawing the lines for the cuts. It all looks so symmetrical. Thanks again!

So now what blade are you running on that chop saw?
@dalejacaway48815 жыл бұрын
Sandblasting probably the easiest way. All the times you can find the hundred and eighty-five CFM air compressors going for sale right after winter heads because the companies to blow out sprinkler lines are going to upgrade and so that's when they put theirs on the market. Same with road construction sells its stuff off in the winter and that it's not actually too hard to build a little Hopper and a nozzle or to find an industrial sandblaster that maybe most of the safety crap is broke on it but you can bypass all that and make it work

How has the tank held up after all the burning you’ve done in it? I’m thinking of using a 22 gallon as a firebox for a smoker
@Allensweldingwoodworking4 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t for me so I’m not sure, those tanks hold up pretty good though as long as you use a coal rack inside and have a way for water to drain out, make a ash pan with the part you cut out of tank
@GD-cs4nh4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for helping me with that

howdo you like that evolution i have one leaks oil where the handle connects to the motor seems to be an issue with them, how many cuts do you get out of a blade i'm finding they are great for a straight cut, but blades are so expensive angle grinder is best, thanks you are a real artist your torch work is just like watching a artist create the masterpiece under the layers of nothing

What kind of paint do you use? Havent been able to find a paint to hold up to the heat.
@MrLucifuge19735 жыл бұрын
High heat paint is pretty easy to find. www.homedepot.ca/product/tremclad-high-heat-rust-paint-gloss-black-340g-aerosol-/1000406051 Works for me. Been 3 years or so now. If this doesn't work for you then you are sol..unless, of course, you're going to powder coat and bake in an oven. Which just isn't realistic for most. If you Duckduckgo powder coating in your area, there should be someone offering it as a service. I imagine if you brought your own paint it be cheaper. You can get powder paint for around 1$ an ounce

U made a grill an a griddle in one that's how I would use it u are blessed 🙏
@jessemarin50445 жыл бұрын
Hey Allen if you made a grate for the top and made a santaMaria grill out of it that would be a great lil bbqr,build a 1-1/4 angle iron attach it to the wires to lift up and down like a santaMaria grill then put the grate in it and or a griddle so that it would be versatile to cook or leave out for a fire to warn up on etc.....you actually inspired me to build my own bbqr and well it's almost done and I think you would like it. I'd like to have your email so I could send you what I built and maybe start your own fan page on builds inspired by your welding utube. If this turns out as good as I hope it will I might even have to make a few more for people but a lot smaller lol...mine is huge 2'X2X7 with and insulated fire box and a warming cabinet it's been a hell build starting from scratch and really learning on the fly but it's been your Utube channel that has been one of my biggest assets as I'm always turning to your pages of expertise and experience on how to fix or do something haha...

That cut out could be also be used as a snuffer lid. A lot of us like to cover the coals and embers before going to bed. A gust of wind could start a forest fire. A cut off piece of big culvert makes a good fire pit.

Hey my friend, your work and work ethic is incredible! But do yourself and the people who love you a favor...... Start using the proper ppe for that type of work. Even if you just start by using a fan to draw away that smoke and ground up metal... I have seen my brothers in this trade dying of " copd" or lung cancer or heavy metals poisoning to much in my lifetime. Your a young strong guy today but when you get a little older that shit is going to bite you right in your ass! Protect yourself my friend ! GOODLUCK.
