I lived in South Central for over 20 years and recently moved away into a more “put together” suburb in LA. I lived by the Watts towers, just on the west side of the tracks and it definitely got worse the second you crossed them into Watts and Compton. You didn’t go pass them unless you lived there or knew someone that lives there. All the gangstas would stare at you funny when you drove by, if they didn’t recognize you or your car there could be trouble. If you're not on paper, cops can only frisk the outside of your clothing if there's reasonable suspicion of a crime. They're allowed to do that for their safety while they're detaining someone-they can't just walk up to a person who isn't being detained and pat them down to try to find evidence of a crime.
