If people are gonna do documentaries showing off their neighborhood, showcase the right people. Showcase people who've succeeded and didn't have to leave their neighborhood behind to do it. Show some black entrepreneurs who are turning things in the neighborhood around for the better. Showcase people who are creating positive change in the community every day. But I guess that ain't sexy enough, got to show the violence and the dysfunction and who got out of prison because if it bleeds, it leads.

Canarsie is a good neighborhood. But keep it real most of these folks can barely afford their mortgage which is supposed to be 30% of your income. The schools after elementary are so bad the junior highschools are imfamous both 211 and 68. I graduated from Bildersee in 2003 and someone used to get jumped every single freaking morning and after school Im talking sometimes its 30 vs 1. The kids are in legit gangs by the 6th grade sometimes before. The bumrushes, trust Carnarsie is a good ass neighborhood, but because of the culture from both school and poverty things can get ulgy really fast like said in the video. It's like the east coast version of Friday. I'm talking about you mess with the wrong person and there will be 50 people on your block looking for you. I remember one time they tried to bumrush a liquor store and the owner had to take out a shotgun and these just the middle schoolers Im talking about you wouldnt believe all the crazy shit that went down. It was so bad I didnt even want to take my chances going to the Shore or Canarsie high which were the worst highschools 1 and 2 in 2004. I was literally tired of fighting all the time. I did everything to try to avoid going to Bildersee because it was known as a terrible school and boy were they right. I had fun but it put too much hood into me for my own good. Like I get it Canarsie is a good ass neignborhood, but you will be sadly mistaken to think it is soft. The craziest thing is Canarsie schools are more hood than the schools that are in the hood. Everybody from the hood goes to Canarsie schools which created the worst possible culures of gang fights, neighborhood beefs, just hood shit, look at how these kids sound they are a product of those junior highscools thats all it takes 3 years in there and the highschools is worst both the shore and Canarsie had to get shutdown thats how bad they are so all yall talking about Canarsie aint bad are correct but yall aint telling 100 percent of the whole story or why these people end up like this.
