We'll migrate to quantum secure encryption algorithms way before these things are actually capable of breaking encryption. The US government has already done this, pretty sure most other countries have as well.

@@Zszeda NIST has already released three new standards describing algorithms that are quantum resistent and are planning on standardising more. the algorithms already exist and companies are being advised to implement them however in general quantum computers are many years out from being able to crack modern day cryptography reliably and some experts even doubt that its possible to create a fully functioning quantum computer.

it will because the actual use-case for the Willow chip is so insanely narrow currently, and the amount of power needed to create even a thousand qubits (nevermind 10's or 100's thousands) is so far off from practicality/feasability. not to mention you can keep encryption safe via increasing the factor
