Jeff Hawkins, I think he's one of the guys who know the approximate working of a brain. I read his book "on intelligence" very fascinating book. It changed my view about AI completely.

Fascinating to see how AI research is progressing. I did some basic machine learning and AI courses 7 years ago and if I recall correctly, at that time there was no general theory concerning intelligence. This talk gives me the impression that we are either there or very close. Maybe the singularity is closer than Kurzweil thinks.... exciting stuff!!
