Good stuff! There are a couple more trails at the top that were shut then but should be back opened after the travel restrictions finish. Thanks again 👊🏻

Love the look of this place. Need to visit 👍

Yes it's a great place to visit. I'm looking forward to going back again and trying the black trails. The main one I wanted to try is called 'natural gold' but it is closed for some maintenance and a rest. I've heard it may not be ready until after Winter but the rest of the trails are fairly bomb proof and tend to run all year round.

Hey, I visited this place yesterday 2nd Aug 2021 - off the back of your videos, so thanks - Hit the all the Blue and Upper Red (that one is energy sapping!) Trail - awesome stuff...Ah, Descisions, Descisions....well, its was roastin' yesterday, so I stopped to have a wee 20mins lie in the Sun on top of that there rock! @ 1:30 It was glorious! Hardly any one else around on the trails despite lot of campers etc and other bikes still on racks on vehicles in the carpark! Like yourself, got back to doing this sort of thing after 20 years off, so I find myself probably in the same boat as you were back 2019 with your Glenlivet video....and not currently part of any group rides, since I dont actually know anyone else who does this sort of stuff...just lots of solo missions to date. PS..nice choice of bike you made with the Mega 290, I opted for the Alloy 275 myself

Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it! I've always enjoyed Comrie although still haven't tried Natural Gold as it's always been shut when I visited so another excuse to return. Anyway it's always good to hear from like minded people and happy to be back in the best sport again👊🏻

Hi...i remember you filming yourself doing the wee gap jump... i was one of those pesky E-bikers you mentioned!!!... great video, keep up the good work

Thanks very much it's appreciated! Thanks also for inadvertently making me push myself along that rocky loop too, my legs and lungs were burning up at the thought of being passed by the entire group shortly after bidding you all farewell at the gap jump 😄

Went there for the first time yesterday (thanks to your vids) on my Cube hardtail ebike - this trail in the vid killed me and eventually I got a puncture too - foam stuff failed and a passing cyclist helped me pump up the tyre but it went back down - had to push it the rest of this trail (from the boardwalk!) and back to the car park. Normally trails are fairly short but this one seemed to go on forever! The bit I didn't ride looked great tho. Even the blues are hard on the hands and arms - very rocky place generally! Going back with my son tho as we both really enjoyed the place - great trails but also a really well-sorted place with great facilities.

That's great that the videos helped get you there! There's never a good time for a puncture. I've tried the foam sealants before but never worked either. Hope you have better luck next time and get to ride it all the way back. It is a bit gnarlier and rockier in person and a bit of a step up in terrain from trail centres. It's a great wee place and can't wait to get back and try the other trails at the top once they open up again.

Came up here yesterday for the first time. Did the blue from top to bottom pretty new to mountain biking but the techy bits boosted my confidence big time. Ended up at carron valley today and didn't hesitate on the steeper sections. Just need to boost my fitness or win the lottery and buy an e bike for the climbs cos I am super unfit 😂 great videos! 👍

Good effort. Stick at it, you'll improve your fitness and skills the most at the beginning.. Riding a variety of trails will also help bring you on quicker as well. Thanks for the support!

Upper red looks pretty intense but a lot of fun, ideal to progress from the Blue up to that red?
@TheFlowingScotsman3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely mate. It's not too big of a step up. It's always worth just doing a slower sighting lap and building from there. Good luck 👊🏻

Thanks! It' was a bit deeper than I expected with a wee drop in off the rocks. Good way to clean your bike and cool down after a ride though😁

I'm glad it wasn't just me that questioned my fitness when I done this trail, it honestly killed me😂great video though, I love these trails! Can you think of any other trails with this kind of technical riding? I love rocky stuff like this but other than here and Laggan I can't seem to find many local to me! Also being from Edinburgh Laggan is a bit far to travel for a quick blast!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. I need to put the miles in now to make up for lockdown. Love these trails too and they give you a full body and CV workout in one swoop so I'll probably be back for more soon.💪🏻 Hard to think of anything similar and nearer to you than here apart from a Mountain. Trail wise Kiroughtree and Fort William will probably take as long to get to as Laggan. Can't think of any others just now but if I do I'll get back to you.

@@TheFlowingScotsman hey thanks for the reply! That's very true, takes a while to build it back up again after being off the bike so long! Kiroughtree is still on my list, maybe have to just get an early morning in there and head down! Thank you very much😁

@@tfowleyx We went to Cathkin Braes for the first time recently and although not this rocky, it was the most rocky of the ones we do in the Central Belt (we live in Livingston)

What tyres are you using? Looking to get some new ones but not sure what is best for riding trails in Scotland. Great videos btw 👍
@TheFlowingScotsman4 жыл бұрын
Thanks that's appreciated 👍Tyres are a bit of minefield and everyone has some brand preferences. My current tyre setup is Maxxis Minion DHF front 3c (triple compound softer at edges and harder wearing in the middle) compound with exo casing and Minion DHR rear also 3c compound but exo plus on the rear for extra puncture resistance. Happy with that set up so far and no punctures yet. They have performed great so far but the mud clearance isn't the best for what's coming over the next few months. Maybe a shorty or magic Mary up front if you plan riding muddy ruts over Winter would be better?
